Did a 22 mile club ride this morning followed by a brunch at a Columbian Restaurant. Temps were around 40º at the start of the ride and ended up being close to 65º at the end of the ride. Sunny, no winds, beautiful blue skies and white clouds. Came home and did another 8 mile neighborhood ride with the wife. Great day for riding.

So much for the mid-40s weather they were forecasting. 34F, 10.4 miles in it. Packaged like the Michelin Man and on a canary yellow recumbent, I attract attention even on a day like this.

Was just going to do a short loop ride since it was 25 degrees out. Once I got started I realized I was plenty warm (just have to dress for it) so I extended the ride a bit up through Rock Creek Park in DC (54 miles). I ended up getting lost in NW, and ended up taking a loooong cruise down Wisconsin Ave. Not my favorite kind of riding! But overall it was a great, sunny ride. I didn't bring any food or water though, so I was a bit dehydrated by the time I got back. I don't think I've ever done a 50+ mile ride before without taking some kind of a rest break:

I'm spending some time in the North Ft. Myers area of Florida. My Sister-in-law and brother-in-law came for the weekend and we took a ride today. Not really a pleasant experience. We got beeped at once, swerved at once, and someome threw a cup of soda at us. First time I've had any of those things happen.

18 miles to work this morning:
It was an unusual snow event here in Seattle, so I left the regular commuter at home and rode the all-season commuter to work:

Yep, rode today and yesterday and the day before... after an unseasonably warm winter I'm finally getting back in practice for riding in sub-freezing temps:
Saturday: 29°F w/ 20mph winds = ~17° wind chill. 50 mile group ride with a gang of semi-crazy hammerheads who haven't quite learned to respect a headwind and let it dictate your pace!
Sunday: 22°F w/ 30mph winds = ~6° or 9° wind chill, depending on which weather report you believe. Did an easy 16 mile spin with the missus, mostly just to prove we could.
Today: 16°F w/ (mercifully) no wind at all. I commuted to work, so I'll have 22 miles by the end of the day. Presuming I make it home, that is. I may wind up like one of those fossilized cavemen they dig out of a glacier 50,000 years from now!

Swapped my rest day from today to yesterday. Did a 25 miler today at my local wilderness MUP. Beautiful day for a bike ride.
As I was getting ready to leave, I saw a car from New York state also leaving. The car had a Univega tandem on the back and the driver had a white beard and we nodded at each other as he drove off. By any chance, was they you Cranky? If it was, that was me in the bright orange jersey standing next to the silver pickup.

20 miles in subfreezing temps so I can get ready for a long trip in France three years from now in the middle of August while my wife is strolling up and down Les Champs d'Elysee.
I agree. It makes no sense whatsoever. However, I am gradually acclimatizing to the cold. A thermos of Earl Grey tea consumed at the mid-point really helped.

Kenneth, Yes, I have ridden today as part of my normal routine. Like a couple of years being your age, but believe the axiom: USE IT OR LOSE IT. Is there a 65+ group in this forum?

Hey Dude, Is there recumbent trike group in this forum for us older folks? Also know that a lot of young dudes ride the recumbent trikes also.

I rode about 7 1/2 miles this morning to the gym and worked out for a bit. Nice way to start the day!

I ride a SWB high racer, but earlier today, when I was going up a steep hill, a car close behind me, and when I down-shifted the chain skipped, a trike would have been a VERY NICE thing to have been riding. I'm fortunate not to have gotten hurt.
