Military Bike

So I was in Normandy this week part of tour was the Airborne museum. This bike was found in a glider, it makes me wonder how many other bikes were used by the US military

Like other countries the US used lots of bikes at different times going back to a test of using bicycle in 1896. https://www.blackpast.org/african-am...-corp-1896-97/

I believe there were bicycles with with Pershing in his pursuit of Poncho Vila in the early 1900s.

these are from the bike museum near me in….in….Brenton Oh? I forget what year these are from

I like the handlebar mounted weapon, but I believe a semi-auto shotgun would be better. Drivers might think twice before endangering you with their vehicle.

New Bremen, Ohio. It's a cute little town of about 3000 in the middle of the state near the Indiana border. It's in the middle of nowhere really surrounded by farm land and not very close to any big city. The Crown Equipment Co has its headquarters there and have spruced up the town which used to be on the Miami Erie Canal. They bought the Schwinn museum collection when it went bust in Chicago. The museum is worth a visit. Bring your bike if you like riding in flat farm land.

it was like -500000 the only time I’ve been there so I didn’t see much of the town. I really need to drive down one weekend.

Airstream trailers isn’t very far away

I dare say it looks like that bike could ride gravel.

I was curious by your question and did a quick search on google images on "military bicycles". Some pretty amazing pics there. Hiking with folder bikes in a pack. Whole companies of bicycle soldiers. Neat stuff.

Stop by Batesville and get a casket or a couple of other camper trailers, too.
The place is crawling with them. I think there are two other firms near there besides Airstream.

I'd love to drive for Batesville!! OMG we have travel trailers and GM trucks everywhere around here! Head north to Shipshewana and there are huge lots of them sitting around. Almost every square inch of unused land in FT Wayne has a GM trucks waiting for their chips.

Hi Chris,
This is my 1943 Dayton with my 2 BSA Paratroopers behind it. There is a registry of Columbia and Dayton military bikes on the cabe Military Bicycles | The Classic and Antique Bicycle Exchange (thecabe.com)
Happy Trails,
