Thanks! The fork is the original threaded fork with a threadless adapter. I really want to keep the original fork but it the fixed cups are badly pitted and I'm having trouble finding a headset with a crown race (which is pitted as well) that will fit the oddly sloped fork tube. The original crown race is cone shaped where it meets the fork. There must be headsets for these older entry level cruisers but I haven't found whet I need yet. I do have a 1 1/8" threadless headset and fork that I can use if I have to.

Porkchop BMX online has all sorts of oddball size headsets. They specialize in every type of headset for BMX bikes but they also have parts for lots of other bikes. I get my Chicago Schwinn Varsity headsets from them.

I was able to get the crank arm straightened, trued up the back wheel and finally had time to do a little clean up on the Roadmaster Replica I picked up a few weeks ago.

Until I can source a usable headset for the original fork, I'm going with the threadless fork I had on hand mated to an inexpensive Ritchey Logic headset:
And since the fork has brake studs on it I installed a front "emergency" brake:

Bike has been reluctant to be a bike at almost every turn.
Now I need a post and saddle for it, and hoping the other chain is long enough.

It's[been]finished. I had to put a regular crank on it, though. Once I can the bolts; I'm going to be putting one of my two bmx ashtabula 3pc on it. It's a nice lil muscle bike, I call it the Cobbler. I'd really like a larger, lighter frame to swap the parts on, Cranbrooks are heavy. I welded the front brakes on there.

In my opinion, cantilever frames are the secret to cycling happiness.
I'll start with this bike:
The "Commutocruiser", a Ross Mt. Cruiser purchased in 1995 and my primary bike from 1995 to 2010. Original 1995-2010 configuration:
Alas, in summer 2010 this bike was on the back of my truck on a cross-country trip, and the rack arm fatigued and snapped in the South Dakota badlands. By the time we realized why people were honking and yelling, the bike had been dragged at 65 mph. For several miles.
We could rebuild it - we had the technology.
As for the scraped-up paint, I just wrapped the entire bike in several layers of 3M Super 33 and colorful 3M 35 tape. After straightening the frame, it rides well, and it's repositioned as my city / commuting bike (I now consult from my home office, so not much commuting these days, except to volunteer at Rusty Spoke and other places.)

Next up: the chrome cruiser. Bought a bare Chicago Schwinn frame in 1992, had it chromed, used it as a touring bike for a few years, and then reset it with big ol' baskets as a neighborhood cruiser / grocery-getter. Has a 7 speed Nexus coaster brake hub. No, the gold anodized Super Maxys are not for sale.

phat cycles rumble 29er with roller brake and disc brake a bit of old and new school tech. It’s my first 29er and compared to 27 26 and 20”. This thing rides like a horse.
