Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2002 trek 5200 usps

I just picked up one of these for my collection. It's all ultegra but it has a Dura Ace triple crank. Is it correct for the bike? I cant find any info about it ever having a triple. Thanks!

If it's a 5200, then it originally would have come with full Ultegra and at some point, the original crank replaced with a Dura Ace one.

The 5200 denotes Ultegra and the 5500 series was the Dura Ace model (frameset exactly the same). Both were available from the factory with either a double or a triple groupset.

My wife owned a USPS 5200 which she bought in the Fall of 2002 but I think the 2003s had come out by then. Regardless, it was 100% Ultegra and was a 3x9. Hers was the silver with blue accents.

I've got a pic if I can find it.

My wife's USPS 5200, either a 2002 or a 2003:
