I have an idea, don't buy the bike thus not using the credit card and end up paying obscene interest charges for god knows how long? Why not wait and save the money and pay cash? Or buy a bike with whatever you can afford with the cash you currently have on hand? I know, keep my opinions to myself, I can hear it now.
There's nothing inherently wrong with using a credit card if you can afford to pay it off in a reasonable time frame. If it's something you will get a lot of use out of, go ahead. Every mile you put on the bike instead of driving saves you about 25 cents. If you rode 100 miles a week, you could pay off a $1000 bike plus interest in a year.
