MUPs are full of “interesting” people.
my afternoon commute starts on a MUP (the same one that got “famous” about a month ago ) that goes on a steady 1-to-2% climb for about 7 miles. Right at the start, I feel a “presence” behind me and find someone sucking at my wheel, less than a foot behind my fenders. Mind you, I’m on my commuter, with two full pannier bags, and I don’t wear a mask to boot. I slow down a little, and the guy immediately jumps ahead, does the same thing to another commuter I was closing on. The guy is on an aero bike, full aero kit down to his blue shoe covers. He tucks in, gets aero and practices his drafting skills, on a MUP, full of runners, walkers, evening commuters, going up hill.
I lost sight of him after about two miles, but during that time I saw him “drafting” two other commuters, a hipster on a steel bike blaring music from his phone, and a gentleman of mature ages within the time I was trailing him.
what kind of a ****** up delusional mind do you need to have to think that practicing your drafting skills on unsuspecting strangers on a MUP I wonder?
sorry, rant over.

Hell if the R2 weren't a gift I'd replace it (at least for this purpose) with a Soma Smoothie. With the steel fork. And I'd be all about a drag jersey with little streamers hanging off.

It deserves the hate. My other option is the rock creek trail (which is actually a little shorter), but it is standing room only in the afternoons since the lockdown, and also I’m not in a rush, so I can take the minimally longer route in the afternoon...

Stopped for a beer last week and the server asked where we'd come from and then followed that up with a quizzical look and, "is there a bike path between here and there?" No. No, there is not.

Thankfully your post earlier reminded me that it was Bastille day, so of course I had to take the French fixed gear and infiltrate the local gated community. That trail has an access point to get inside the gates.

Sounds like I'm not a serious cyclist.
I suppose we knew that.

Velo Vol's evening accomplishment list:
--filed 2019 tax return*
*I know it's early but I'm crazy that way.

I rode on a bike trail today, I kind of hate it most times but it's pretty quiet and I was in a dont-want-to-get-kitted-up mood but still wanted to ride a bit.

Speaking of MUP's, I saw this on my way to the MUP after work. I am guessing 1964 but the old timers can chime in.

what kind of a ****** up delusional mind do you need to have to think that practicing your drafting skills on unsuspecting strangers on a MUP is OK, I wonder?

!964, 65, and 66 are very similar with the only external difference being to position of the "10" emblem. I had a 65 which I bought when I was 19 and I drove it for 19 years. 292 straight 6, 3 on the tree with electrically controlled overdrive and aftermarket A/C. Best car ever. Sold it with 300,000 miles on it for more than I paid for it.
