I don't believe "Record" was a true brand. These decals were found on various bikes, amongst which a Mercier that I own.

Can be. Where I took the pic from claimed they were a build up shop like Fanini (minus maybe the fact that Fanini had own team as well). Of course I cant check if true or not.

Yeah, you are right, found many other examples of various bikes with the same Record decal.

recent Offer Up advert for a frameset + in So Cal.
This appears to be an early Record Sprint frame made for 24" wheels (presume tubulars) but selling without those wheels?

For what's worth with type names of Alan, it's a Sprint, check the fixation of the rear fork at the seat lug. These 24" frames/bikes are rather rare!

Think this ^ may be another one-off with a generic (Champion) decal, or even hand painted graphic?

Somehow this decal looks familiar to me. In the sixties/seventies there has been a Swedish cycling brand 'Champion'. These were Italian-made frames and rebranded as Champion. Torpado was one of these builders. Torpado was also one of the first brands that used Alan frames and sold them under their own name. So, maybe ...

Edit: and this is a early, first generation Alan, 1972/1973

Thanks to SoCaled adding this re-branded Coppi to the list (pix from an Offer Up ad in Los Angeles)

due to the "wreaths" in the headlugs I'll guess this is a "Super Record" model

I certainly have no reason to doubt, but since i have this "photo(s) or it doesn't count" rule could you perhaps dig up a pic of an ALAN with Torpado branding?
Then I will gladly add Torpado (and/or Torresini) to the list!

It is a Competition. The most visible difference is the construction of the upper rear fork at the seat lug.
I've never seen, read or heard about a Coppi re-brand. This could be 'home work'. But it's a '73/'74 frame and the head badge is as used by Fiorelli-Coppi those days, so everything is possible.

I don't know if STEVENS is a thing over in the US, but here in Europe, they are a well established German brand.
In the local ad I saw this, and the seller was nice enough to include a pic about their anniv. pic proving its not home grown.

Both the lugs and DO looks somewhat different to the orig. ALANs, so its a big ? if Ludovico & Co. had to do anything with these or not, maybe an entry with ? in the list or just leave out and use for entertainment.

As from the Netherlands I'm familiar with Stevens.
This is the Record model from Alan, made from mid-eighties by Alan and '92/'93 in commission by Carbon Valley.
So it's probably a Carbon Valley bought by Stevens and re-branded in thir first year. If there are no Alan engravings it's pretty sure.
I never saw this one either.

Since this "Stevens" example has some questions, I'm going to let it kick around for a while before adding this to the list.
Welcoming any additional insights or trivia notes on the topic, from anybody who has them!

Now I went on and see, they were selling the MTB version as well. Interestingly they were founded in '90 as a 2 part company, first was a wholesale for premium bike and parts brands, the other made their own bikes.
So they also built on MTB frame from ALAN as well (ALAN not mentioned in their "history"), later they had own frame designs.

just for my own clarity: is this pic of an ALAN MTB frame that was re-branded and sold as a "Stevens"?
I for one have never seen an ALAN mountain bike in person (with ALAN or any brandname)

Exactly, they (ALAN) made MTBs as well, even after the "screwed and glued" times, but today only Cross, Gravel and Road. Seems like STEVENS, who started the whole biz to "make the best" (like so many others) made the shortcut until their own frames were ready and used ALAN frames.

Here's are "legit" examples:

"Stevens" now added to the list but since we aren't 100% sure about the Road frame it's just for the confirmed MTB ALAN (for now).
Thanks again to Lattz and fabiofarelli!

It was a small brand in Berlicum, southern part of the Netherlands. Building has stopped and the business now is selling and maintenance of all kinda bikes.
