Someone needs to do a valid comparo:
1. high end hydro's on a road bike
2. high end rim brakes on alu rims on a road bike
Dry runs
Wet runs
Riders matched for weight.
Several of you have posted that you have both rim and disc brake road bikes. So someone on the forum could do the tests.

I'm not sure why it makes any difference but apparently some people want to know so I'll report that I really like my disc brakes.

here we have the perfect test bed. Do a series of timed and measured stops and we'll see which end stops quicker.

The difference can be considerable. Give yourself time before settling on a judgement. It's similar to clutches and brakes in cars, they don't engage the same from one to another either.

Yeah; I can see they're graduates of the Mythbusters Akadumee of Siunz.
Swap bikes and repeat each test, first off; fair chance one has a better reaction time than the other when the same one always stops first. (Or maybe he's just plain better at stopping.)
Set up some sort of visual indicator of when the brakes are actually applied; this will allow the camera to determine at least whether they're starting to brake at the same time.

This thread has left me with one question: Are disc brakes better than rim brakes, or vice versa?

I don't know but I'm pretty sure threaded BBs suck. Press fit BBs are the best or why else would all the manufactures use them?
