WTB Ranger tires on Mavic a719 wheels fitment???
Hi everyone. Was curious if anyone here is running WTB Ranger 29x2.4 or 29x2.8's on their Surly Ogre without fitting issues. I'm also planning to mount these to my Mavic a719 wheels with tubes. Does anyone know if I'll have issues with this? I have this on my Curly Ogre because I really like the rims. They are super strong. Just wanted to know If I can get a WTB 29x2.8 on there or even the 29x2.4 will be fine too.

But that's very conservative. I can see other charts saying 60mm is the limit for 19 mm internal rim width. Which is ~2.35". I'm sure you can go to 2.4". It just won't handle as well as on a wider rim. I wouldn't do 2.8. Personally I would do a 2.25 or 2.0 seeing as you can get the tire you want in those sizes too. I don't think it's a safety issue, but more a handling issue. So if you just want something big for comfy slow riding, then it won't really matter, but if you want to rail corners, the narrower tire will probably feel better.
Someone who's actually tried it might have a better opinion. I've got A719s but with 28mm gp5s on them lol.
- Recommended tyre widths: 28 to 47 mm

19 mm internal rim width. These rims are for thin tires, Mavic says;

better listen to the guy that works at the tire factory, he likes wide tires on wide rims.

Surly's are really good at fitting WIDE tires. I have 3, working on building up a Krampus now. Check the spec sheets for the Orge, Fits 29x 2.5 tires. Rims and tires specs vary, just try say the mavis 2.6 recon.

Do measure the internal width yourself to be sure, and then look at and compare the various charts that will turn up. Ive run 2.5's on a couple of bikes, but cannot recall the exact inner width, but from memory they were at the far end of recommendations, but worked fine.
