I've ridden every day this year - but this ain't going to last much longer. Weather forecast looking wintry in a few more days. 11 miles this afternoon in upper 40's and sunny.

It was mid 60s today in north GA. I did my first two hour ride in quite some time and...it was on a new (to me) Serotta Fierte IT. The one that is is carbon and Titanium. I still have to tweak it a bit but a lovely ride and quite a different feel from my LOOK 585.

30 miles Sunday afternoon, taking advantage of a 16 mph tailwind with gusts to try for some new PRs on my nemeses -- hills. Set a new PR on a 2.25 mile climb but it's still a full two minutes slower than the KOM and top tens, all apparently set during a fast club's group ride. My legs didn't feel fresh but it was a good ride and pleasant day.

I rode 34 km on Saturday, January 5th. In southern Quebec. My last ride of '18 was on December 31st 2018, 28 km, for a season total of 5031 km. So the gap between the '18 and '19 seasons was exactly 5 days. A record for me in this part of the world. Must be global warming, but at +3C it sure didn't feel like it. Da agony of da (cold) feet.

It's about as long a ride as I can stand at that temperature. This morning it's -16C and the roads are snowy/slushy, so the next outing won't likely be for a while.

A brief 4 mile ride this morning before the rains came.
Tomorrow should be rideable but likely not the next day.

Thanks to the government shutdown, there is no more need for me to ride. I did, however, ride to a diner a few miles away tor a great breakfast. It flet good to ne up on two wheels again.

Yesterday I gave my legs a rest, but got out today for a quick 60 minute lunchtime ride on a 66F, very windy day.

I've ridden every day this year but the streak ends today with a 9.5 mile ride to pick up a car after repairs at the dealer. Wind advisory this afternoon with winds mostly from the West in the 20mph range. Thankfully, my route was about half south and then half east so no head winds and some nice tailwinds.
After today's highs in the 50's, temps in the 20's predicted for most of the next few days, so no cycling for me.

Snuck in another ride this morning, barely. Forecast said rain late in the afternoon so I opted for my road bike. There was a steady drizzle halfway through my ride. GREAT. On the way home the bike gets drenched on my roof rack. Steel is real alright. SMH. lol

Had to get out of the house for awhile cause some family members have the plague. Left at 38F, 5 mph southern breeze and at turn around point it turned into a 10 mph SE cold beast, . Good thing I brought a shell with me because it felt like little needles hitting the skin. What does it take for the sun to make an appearance this winter?

Spring is nigh

Just gave my baby a little shower because we were on a shady trail that was a bit wet from the rains last night. Don't mind the bar tape, I have a set waiting for when the weather gets better.

30 Mile ride on the San Gabriel River trail today, battling head winds all the way to Seal Beach but the Tail wind helped me keep my speed at around 23-24 mph all the way back to Whittier.

No ride today due to a doctor visit and x-rays. Rode 20 miles last night and the highlight of the ride 18 miles in was a pretty bad crash that was all my fault. Tried to go through a narrow gate opening too fast, hit my handlebar on the side, and you can picture the rest of the story. Told not to ride for a week while I heal, then I'll be back at it.

Rode for first time yesterday in about 4 years. Only about 30 minutes or so, took me longer than that to find and put together my riding gear. Just around the neighborhood to see if I remembered how to ride. Yep, can still spin. Exhilaration may be the closest word to describe how it felt. Yeah, it's winter here (Japan), but fortunately we get lots of sunny days this time of year. Hope to go again today and a few times this week. Sorry, just had to blog this somewhere.

16 miles Saturday, chilly and windy, 47F, 17-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Unfortunately the wind was at the wrong angle to provide a fun tailwind on my circuit for more than 100 yards at a time. Mostly crosswind and quartering headwind.

Also trying a different saddle on the road bike. Nothing particularly wrong with the Selle Italia SLS Kit Carbonio, which is firm and flat with minimal padding. Just curious to try the Selle Italia Q-Bik comfort saddle, which is just slightly more padded, flexy and curved. Felt okay. It might nudge my lower back to a straighter angle. I'll need a couple of longer rides to decide.

Hill workout in the hood Friday morning early. Made sure to warm up (pre-dawn walk, about 5 miles) first so I could wear just a shell for the workout itself. I found a nice headband light out by the highway while I was walking, fired right up with new batteries. 23F, the coldest I've ridden this season. (I don't know why, but it's interesting to see other people around the region having the same weather.)

I know the feeling, way to go. My first ride back after decades felt like being shot off an aircraft carrier.
