35 miles Friday afternoon and 37 miles Saturday afternoon, both with a pretty wicked headwind during the second half. The rides around me average 50 feet per mile of of rolling hills. Tomorrow I am going to play with my kid and rest. Anticipation is killing me as my new bike should be in next week.

Friday: I went out on a route that was one of my favorites last year, but this time with a definite goal: find Lion Fountains. (Many of our small towns have Lion's Clubs, which tend to install...Lion Fountains.)
The end game: I'm trying to plan a cat-themed century or maybe 200K, with stops at Lion Fountains and perhaps a cat adoption room. I do not have high hopes that anybody would actually join me on such a ride, but it would still be fun solo.
I already knew about ones in the towns of Chaseburg and Coon Valley (the latter is one of my favorite water stops), but found a new one in a park outside of St. Joseph:
Total: 46.5 miles, 2,504 feet.
Saturday: The usual leader of my weekend ladies' ride was out this weekend, so I posted a route to see if there would be any takers. Everyone else was smart and didn't really want to ride in 95 degree heat with 25 MPH winds (let's not talk about the gusts), so I went solo. I scrapped the original 40 mile loop and went on an easy flat route down to the town of Stoddard - right into the headwind - knowing that I'd catch an awesome tailwind on the way back. Still feeling OK, I took a quick pop up and down our local bluff. And guess what I found while looking around in Stoddard? Another Lion Fountain (unfortunately, not working.)
Total: 33.8 miles, 1,169 feet.

I live in Illinois and developing climbing strength in the middle of America takes some planning.
I've been riding along the Mississippi river just south of St. Louis in southeastern Illinois to improve my climbing ability. A bluff about 300 ft above the flood plain of the river provides the opportunity to climb 7 to 18% grades.
On Saturday I got in about 2500 feet of climbing and 60 miles. See: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1789240126

Two miles yesterday just riding over to check out a place for sale in town. Took the fixed gear and felt like I'd forgotten how to ride it - stiff and slow and awkward. No time to warm up or get used to it really - all turns and stops and starts and short, steep little inclines on the way over.
73 miles today in the heat. Started at a reasonable time and rode down and back up River Road, where I ran into a couple of friends, then headed up to the market for planned meeting with another friend. We generally kept to the shadier roads, but as it got to be mid-day, there wasn't a lot to be had. Since it was hot and humid, we generally took it easy, but overall the day had a pretty good pace (for me) due to: a) rushing up the East Hill because I got underway later than planned, b) a quick pace back up River Road and all the way to the Market because the friend I ran into on the way up was a Cat 1 racer, and I had to work hard to keep up with what must have been, for him, a leisurely pace - also, c) he showed me the fast way to State Line.
The goal was Pie Lady, but we figured Toga Hill and a loop of Rockland Lake were in order to make sure we worked up an appetite. The strawberry rubarb with ice cream was dee-lish!

Sun: Mountain bike shop ride... still getting used to the new bike but was able to ride stuff i didn't even think about the last time i was on those trails. Had a slight wobble that ended with both feet ankle deep in mud, better than crashing though. I have a Tri next weekend but after that I will have to keep mixing in the mountain bike to get my skills back up and learn some new ones.

Odd weather we have been experiencing. Rainy all day all last week. I finally got out Thursday for my usual Davis Is evening ride of 33 miles. Great clouds of gnats were the main problem. Saturday and Sunday did the same rides to Picnic and Davis Is. for 40 miles. Mild wind, but muggy. Felt like riding in warm soup.

71 miles on Saturday in beautiful (and toney) Hunterdon Country, New Jersey. 3,900' of climbing, most of which was in the first 56 miles. Upper 80s with a stiff headwind during the hilliest parts.
Off to Montana for two weeks on Saturday.

I had a day off in Paris after a grueling week of hopping between Paris, Rome, Munich, Salzburg, and Villach so I rode around the city for about 4 hours on this...

355 km for the weekend- Ottawa, ON to Kingston, ON on Saturday and back on Sunday along with 2000 others on Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour. Nice weather for both days although Sunday hit 32 C with heat warning in Ottawa but a healthy tail wind brought us all home sweat soaked and salt stained but happy to sip on a cold beer at the finish.

That's the kind of bike I get my "recovery" rides on - 3 miles on a Citibike this morning - I've yet to ride my own bike to work. I don't mind - actually kinda like the 10-12 minute rush-hour ride to Port Authority in the evening, but I think an hour working to get home would be too much.

Monday, did my usual Davis Is. ride of 33 miles. That might be it for my evenings this week. The rain chances are going up for the rest of the week.

Newbie
Did the B2VT on Saturday, 134 hilly miles. The group I started with went out fast, so fast that I never took my turn pulling. I have no shame. As the ride progressed I noticed that shifting was getting erratic. I stopped a few times to adjust via the barrel adjuster. That worked for maybe 10 miles or so then went bad again. By mile 105 I lost the use of the 1st 7 cogs (out of 11). Then got dropped since I could no longer keep pace with the lack of gears. The only saving grace was that the last 30 miles is uphill so I didn't need those gears as much as I may have otherwise....
Turns out the shifter cable (Ultegra 6800) was frayed and was starting to fail. I was very lucky that it didn't go completely as I would have only had the lowest gear available. I don't think I could have continued if that had happened. All my fault in that I should have kept up with maintenance. Won't happen again :>)
Here's my Garmin Connect link if anyone is interested:
