Thames path Richmond and west - road tires suitability
Hi
Looking to do a nice bike ride on the weekend with pleasent surroundings e.g. along the Thames going west from Richmond ...perhaps up to Henley. The problem is we all have road tires and I've heard the paths can get a bit off road. Please can you let me know if this is the case?
Can anyone please suggest another road tire friendly bike ride heading out of London?
Many thanks in advance
Chris

You might want to ask this question in the UK regional subforum also.

We used to live in Hurley and rode regularly along Thames to Marlow and occasionally west to Henley.
I would say best done on hybrid or something that takes wider than typical road tyres- rough and muddy in places. That said, if you really want to do it on something else, you can walk a few places if you have to. Wouldn't think that road pedals/cleats would be particularly pleasant. Check over on the forums for Bike Radar and CyclingUK as they are based in UK. Good luck!
