Campy brake lever ID:
I'm sure the first pair is Athena/Chorus from the late 80's but what's the second pair?

the bottom ones actually look like '95ish Athena. the '95 small parts catalogue (yeah like there are EVER spare parts) shows a Athena/Veloce lever to look like this. the difference between the two is a difference in the lever itself.
the top ones may be a later Record (the C or Corse prefix being dropped by the mid '90s) again the '95 catalogue shows a Record lever as having a openig and a slot at the top of the body.
are they going to be in a different thread later?

As for your other question...I dont know, I have 4 sets of Campy levers in various condition, 1 SR pair, 1 NR pair and the 2 pairs in this thread. Only 1 lever has a hood.

the '88 levers should be the type that need the little 'plate' to make them aero, and also I do not recall seeing the slot in the older levers.
