The white (Sante components) and yellow bike is mine. I built up the one with dark (Shimano 600 tri-color) components for my son earlier this summer.

After a couple of weeks with no riding I finally rode last week. My Mon thru Friday daily ride of 20 to 30 miles was kept on the low side to help ease back into riding. I rode all road bars except for Thurs and Fri at which time I rode my aero bars. I also rode my newly aquired 1985 Pinarello Triathlon Victory (there's a pic on another thread). Besides having all campy components and non aero brake levers it was very similar to the Centurion in most respects. Although an about an inch longer in the seat tube it's approximately the same length on the top tube. Which probably means the tt on Ironmans is a little longer than most bikes. Which is cool since most men have a longer torso than women, generally speaking. There is a formula to determine whether you have a longer torso or longer legs relative to your height, I read it in a cycling magazine years ago.
Anyways I rode my 85 pinarello and had fun shifting friction levers. Reminds me of when I first started cycling in 85.
Then I rode my 89 54cm Ironman, I had to lower the stem, still didn't feel right so I raised my saddle. Finally all was well. What a bike.
Then I rode my 88 52cm Ironman, fit well ,rode well, exceptional bike. Im thinking man it can't get better than this, maybe there's a bike that can equal it though.
Then I rode my 88 52cm Ironman with aero bars. Whoa, dang that bike can move! I'm not sure if it's because I've been riding mostly road bars or what. Perhaps it's the way I'm able to rest somewhat as I'm riding. Made me think I should equip all my Bikes with them.
Finally I rode my 86 54cm aero bar equipped Ironman. That was a blast. What fun it is to be able to ride a fast, responsive, stable, quality bike.
In conclusion if I have to sell a bike it would be the pinarello even though it's very similar to my Ironman(s) . Yeah those Ironman are that good. Although not an Ironman check out the similarities. Ride on.

Just finished putting this one together and taking it off of the stand.
88 Ironman Expert size 58
Dura Ace ten speed indexed down tube shifters
Dura Ace front and rear derailleurs
Dura Ace brakes
Nitto stem and bars
Tri Color brake handles
H Plus Son rims with 11 speed 105 hubs
Still waiting for some gumwall tires from ProBikeKit in England. They seem to be thoroughly hung up in shipping somewhere.
Now to adjust the seat height and bar height and go ride it.

Did you have do anything special fitting what I presume is a 135mm hub into the rear dropout?

The 11 speed 105 hubs still measure 130. It slides in with just the slightest of pressure with your thumbs.

The stem will surely make it's way down as I fit the bike to myself. Just not as low as the bars were before I rebuilt this bike. I'm getting some back issues as time goes on. This is my first Technomic.

Very Nice Ironman @Shady Rascal. What crankset is that?

The reason I chose this crank was that I wanted a polished finish compact crank for short money.

It's a Holdsworth compact from PlanetX in England. It cost right at 60 bucks delivered. The bottom bracket is a 113mm Shimano 55 from Amazon which was somewhere around 18 dollars IIRC.

Ha! Yes - I am more concerned with "need" than speed, sadly. The curved handle bar was killing my wrists! I can't take the credit - a dear friend of mine rebuilt it for me and then helped me modify to make it fit perfectly. Love my Ceci (that's her name) :nerd:

Why ? So I can impress some people on a forum board ?
I'll adjust it to where it suits me. I rode several thousand miles on an Ironman last year. This build has some changes to address stuff I wasn't happy about on my other one. That includes raising the stem an inch or two from the old setup.

Yeah, it needs pedals to. Just some comfort pedals. I road it today. Very nice. It has old Continentals on it, but way to worn. The seat is weathered, but solid. It looks like suede.
I am shocked that I have found a few bikes in the last couple years with frames that fit. Every time I find a great bike the frame is 25 Inches plus. Although the last good bike find last October was about a 17 Inch Trek 400.
May sound like a dumb question but where can I get new hoods for the brake handles. Shimano 105. An acceptable replacement.
