Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If I'm not mistaken RS10 wheels came in at a bit over 1900 grams. I'm pretty sure they're low spoke count wheels but for the short while I used them they were pretty durable.

Flawless bike. Upgraded to the Ultrega SL crank.
You race against other racers not bikes.

Yes. And I'm going to have it painted charcoal black (along with the Edge logo on the fork and the brake cables).

wow, your bike is all black...i actually want some yellow..actually into livestrong foundation. huge fan of lance armstrong.

i thought about brake pads but ones i found were for carbon rims, but are also used for alum too and it doesn't really show when inserted in brake shoes. can only see it from front or back if you pay attention too. (dont want to replace anything if i really dont need to)

other ideas where to just get the livestrong jersey suit so i can leave the bike alone. or any other kind of apparel/accessories?

I almost went with a black and gold theme on this bike.
I was going to go with gold brake calipers (same brand), a gold seat clamp, gold
nipples/hubs and possibly a gold chain, just to add a little splash to the bike.

The yellow SwissStops can be used for aluminum, but the green ones are best for aluminum.

I'm trying to blacken out the bike as much as possible.
The chainrings are screaming when I look at the CAAD,
but with time they'll get duller and they won't stand out as much.
Still, it's the one component that I can take "not" being blacked out
because it looks so sick in person with the gray Ultegra SL crank arms.

Good angle, bad lighting

Bad angle, better lighting:

The Campagnolo kool-aid is costly, yet strangely satisfying and delicious.

Say hello to your newest cult inductee:

CAAD9 5. Stock.

Next paycheck: DA or Koolstop brake pads; Rubino Pro or Michelin Pro Race 3 tires
Following paycheck: Easton EA70 bars and tape that's not white (super hot till dirty)
Somewhat near future: American Classic Victory Wheelset; new seatpost & stem (undecided).

I almost picked that gray 105 CAAD9-5 before my BBQ.
BB30, right? That means at some time in the future,
you "could" slap on a Hollowgram crankset on it.

Me jealous!

i just replaced my ea70 aero bars for the 90. any interest in buying a used one? there are signs of cracks which i need to check beforehand with mechanics. they say it may be only the clear coat which doesn't affect integrity of the structure. if i can confirm this, would you be interested still? measurement is 42cm.

Appreciate the offer for sure, but with a new shiny bike, I'm gonna be a ***** for new shiny parts. How did you like your 70's by the way??

i cant blame you, i feel the same way. everything brand new is always nice.

the 70s came with my caad9. though they were my first ever carbon fiber bars the hand placement at the drops was just not for me. i have round alum bars on old bike which i prefer more. the bottom of the drops is only 2 inches long and i usually have my hands at the bottom ends of the drops, but the 70s didnt allow that. the angle at mid-section gives you only one position. its not as stiff as my alum bars but it pays off on longer rides when it vibration free, same as the 90s i have now. the tops are flat which i LOVED when riding upright. everybodys different though...if you are a fan of anatomic bends, i say go for it

I've always been a fan of traditional round bends. I've got a set of Easton EC90 SLX bars with an anatomic bend if you are interested.

Believe it or not, the more exclusive livestrong stuff isn't black and yellow. If you raise enough money for the challenges, the jerseys you get are shades of black, gray and yellow. The ride for the roses jersey is usually shades of black and gray. Hell, even the official Nike jersey this year was white.

-Big fan of black and yellow as evidenced by my yellow wrangler.
