Also, when was the first disc brake? This 1970's JC Penny dep't store 10-speed has the weirdest looking rear disc brake.

Bike is complete. Seat has been replaced... Everything works on the bike.
What are the odds of that being true, do you think? This bike should have the infamous twin spoke wheels, the stem is way off straight, the brakes are undone and the chain is not on the cogs.

Colour Me Confused

Good Used Bike for sale, for rent, for lease (Plaza Midwood)

"My used bike for sale, for rent, for lease, please ignore the Nissan Car keys.

The bike is black and color and has seen better days feel free to leave it lying about for others to use. It is especially good at being taken off of sweet jumps.

Contact John @ 704-666-6969

condition: salvage
make / manufacturer: Sweet Ride
model name / number: Bad Ass!
serial number: 6969420"

https://charlotte.craigslist.org/bid/6154292462.html

(I dare say this meets most anyone's criteria for "wacky"? (Contact number seems a bit contrived? Perhaps this is really a car dealership ad?))

It seems like an excuse to post a photo of the car keys. But why?

Looking for vintage French British, Italian or American touring or Randonneur bikes. British beauties such as Jack Taylor, Mercian, Hetchins, Bob Jackson and the other great Brit builders. French bikes such as Alex Singer, Rene Herse, Charrel, Pitard, Routens ect. I'm not interested in cheap department store bikes or low end, interested in old high end bikes and will pay fair market value.

$975"

Yep, that's about right. Those old Shimano discs were on lots of junk bikes. I have one of those disc setups.

Peugeot frame and extras. - $250 (chattanooga)

"I have a Peugeot fram for grabs. the frame itself is in flawless condition. Road it for four years and the crank snapped so decided to get something new.
You will have to cut the crank off. After that you have a perfect frame. I will cut the crank off for an extra 25.00
Included with the bike are the original bars, brand new pair of bullhorns and new front brake. great aftermarket seat, two pairs of road bike tires white wall michelin slicks and some more progressive street tires, and whatever else I can find that can go with the bike. really beautiful bike. Hate to part with it but hopefully someone wants to put a little love into it and make it road worthy again. "

$250?!?! plus 25 for crank arm removal?!

wouldn't give you 50 bucks for your POO-JO frame set. no sir. especially with that missing crank arm.

Here's an ad that seems to require insider info to appreciate:

Custom Corazon Race Bike - $500

This bike is a VERY FAST/VERY LIGHT Vintage Steel Road Racing Bike, probably from california, probably from an avid rider, probably affiliated with the fat tire brewing cycle club. It belonged to my roommate. I bought it from him, but I'm looking for something more geared for long touring. This is perfect for racing, the occasional ride around town, through the park, something for festival season, getting on the levee for a long workout ride, etc. I'm about 5'11'' and it works for me. Probably a 54-56cm frame, not sure, but yeah, if you're 5'10''-6'2'' this bike should fit great. This bike is in great condition, the paint is at about 95% a few chips but nothing too crazy.

I put in bold face the part that made me scratch my head. It might help if there was some explanation of what 'Corazon' is (racing team, local builder, obscure brewery?). Plus his mention of who this bike will fit makes me wonder how much he knows about bikes. It does look like the original owner's name is painted on the bike - "Raymond P...", so I assume it was actually raced.

FOR SALE: Infinity hybrid bike

Frame: 18" Aluminum, hybrid
Seat: Vader, Comfort Saddle
Drive: Shimano 7 Speed
Shifter: Shimano REVO Shifter
Rims: 700c Infinity Double Wall Alloy
Weight: 29.74 pounds
Approximate fit range: 5'6" to 6'1"

The bike is practically brand new. I ordered it online and assembled it together. The front brakes need to be adjusted. I rode it less than a quarter of a mile and changed my mind and would like a mountain bike instead of a hybrid.

I bought the bike a week ago for $250 and am selling it for $195 cash or best offer.

I am located in New Tampa. See map in this ad to see where I am located. Buyer must pick up.

Trained Too Hard For TABR

Vintage Road Bike - $100

"Be the envy of your friends and competitors with this gem of a vintage road bike. The Centaurian Le Mans RS has been heralded by many a cycling enthusiast as 'the greatest'. Especially with the seductive midnight blue paint job.

Think having you gear controls on the handlebars is a little 'too mainstream'? No problem. Pull away from the peloton with this bike's frame mounted shifters to smoothly transition your ride from an easy going 21st gear coast to a grueling 1st gear burn all whilst maintaining maximal aerodynamic posture.

I cannot comment on this illustrious stallion's history prior to 2006 when I won her in a high stakes poker game in Marsielle on the last leg of the tour from a burly German domestique. My German is conversational at best and he was several radlers deep, but I believe he said he took good care of it and that it was garage kept.

Skeleton not included. Needs new intertubes.

I don't really feel like haggling since the price is pretty fair for something so many consider to be priceless, but I can if you need to.

***update***
Since originally posting, I have received an abundance of questions regarding the listing. Please see the following FAQ section to help with your purchasing decision.

Q: Is this the same fabled Centaurian LeMans RS that American cycling sensation Lance Armstrong learned to ride on?
A: While legally I cannot confirm this, I also cannot deny it. We are awaiting DNA confirmation, but the wear on the saddle does suggest this as a possibility. Will post more when analysis complete.

Q: Will you accept OVER the asking price?
A: Yes

Q: Can you kindly shipp this byke to Somalia where mine son are serving US military? Will send money order if you provide account number?
A: At this time, sale is contingent on local pickup in Chapel Hill, NC."

https://raleigh.craigslist.org/bik/6159319489.html

(Does the skeleton need new innertubes? Dibs on using this image as my avatar.)

....probably 'rides funny'. and that's why he's selling it at a loss. Hope he doesn't screw up his MTB as well......

BTW, maybe we should start a new thread, dedicated soley to inductees to the BFC (Backwards Fork Club)?
