1971 Schwinn Sports Tourer frame and fork

For sale from Cleveland, OH, 44111
Payment through PayPal f&f
Price: 170$ plus shipping

I had this frame powder coated a year ago. Blue.
It is a 24" size (center to top), serial number LG 033909.
Huret rear ends.
The chrome on the fork is not so nice.
See pictures for more details.
I still have some original parts, probably all except the set of wheels and seat.
For 270$ plus shipping you'll get the frame set and parts: bars with stem, Campagnolo rear derailleur, Schwinn Aproved front derailleur, brake calipers and levers, Nervar crankset, seat post and the clamp, head set and bottom bracket.

great job on the masking. Better than I could have done.

Didn't know Hurt made drop outs. And it looks like they should be adjustable, but I don't see a hole for a screw.

What's the color called? Periwinkle?

The right rear dropout derailleur hanger was modified by Schwinn to accommodate the tab on the Campagnolo Gran Tourismo (AKA Boat Anchor). You can mount any Campagnolo-style derailleur, but it angles farther forward than it should, which might reduce capacity a bit, if it works at all. Huret derailleurs will mount nicely, if you're into the whole stamped steel aesthetic. Too lazy to go down and look at mine, but as I recall the fork crown had a chromed trim cover, and the actual crown was just painted. There is a story that Schwinn toyed with the idea of making an aluminum kickstand to fit their custom mount, but decided that they wouldn't make enough for it to pay for itself. It's too bad, as they could have used it on the Super Sport as well, though I expect it would have been challenging to make it reliable. Schwinn developed their chromoly, fillet brazed technology at least as early as the 1940s, as they used it on the Town & Country tandems. The Huret rear dropouts were available in both micro-adjust and non-drilled versions, but Schwinn opted for the less expensive version for the Sports Tourer.

My question has always been, "Why Sports, plural?"
