Nickerson State Park
didn't see a thread for this place so thought I'd start one cuz I think I might go back
official entrance is at 3488 Main St, Brewster, MA 02631
there's a little write-up here & here
the paved trails are cool cuz they are not just straight & flat. I imagine on busy summer days it could get dangerous if ppl are going too fast in opposite directions. this time of year, on a week day, I had the place to myself. despite great maps available from different sources there are waaaay more MTB trails that aren't marked anywhere. some trails were too steep for me to ride up but going down them was fun!. the trails around the lakes are not open for bikes. got in a good cpl hrs of riding & even managed to cross the CCRT & Route 6A to visit the bay at Crosby Landing. it was empty but without reading the signs, I think it is a public beach. I doubt they would charge an admission for a person on a bike, but you never know ...
there are restrooms at the park entrance where the CCRT passes, but they aren't open yet. I parked at the athletic fields south of the park (approx 840 Freeman's Way, Brewster) & worked my way up & down staying to the West of the lakes. if I go back I'll investigate elsewhere
circled the areas I was able to identify but road a bunch of trails in between

I’ve just ridden through there on the CCRT, but it looks like a good place to explore in the off season. Thanks!

back to Nickerson State Park to explore some of the Eastern half & parked at the end of Flax Pond Rd where Cliff Pond & Little Cliff Pond are separated by a small beach. used the main entrance at 3488 Main St Brewster which felt like a longer drive than driving to the southern access point (on Freemans Way). had fun for a cpl hrs. if I go back there is more to explore North of where I parked. or I can explore some of the side trails I rode by ... the map doesn't show anywhere near the actual # of trails that exist. circled the areas I was able to identify
map & compass was handy again. at one point, down a bumpy descent, unbeknownst to me, my map popped out of my feed bag. a little back tracking tho & I found it. rule one of map & compass: don't lose the map! at one point I popped out of the woods near the edge of someone's backyard at the end of Shorewood Dr.. oops! sorry!

riding along the fence near Route 6 (about 1 mile from exit 12) was not particularly fun but it was interesting
