My charts ... https://www.flickr.com/photos/machka-...321906/detail/
I see I haven't poste any charts for 2010 and 2011 yet. I'll have to do that when I return to Australia and get my other computer.

2011 - 8000 km
This year won't be as much ... we're only at 4500 km now and although there are still 2 months of cycling ahead of us, we'll be doing really well to get over 5000, I think.

There aren't any rules about what "counts". I don't count trainer (or spinning bike) miles simply because I don't know how it scales to outdoor miles. I keep track of my indoor time just so I have a record of what I've done, but it's a tally separate from my road miles.
I also accumulate a few hundred commuting and about-town miles each year (my commute is short and I do it irregularly) and those are not in my riding log - I'd feel silly adding 2 miles on this day or that just because I rode to work. Also, when I commute or ride to a friend's house, I'm trying hard NOT to sweat, so its not the same kind of experience. But that's just me.

I currently like riding my bike a bunch. However, recent injuries have kept me off for some considerable weeks and now I'm cautious to not overdo the miles/hrs on threat of re-injury...
Even so, I'm good for 3 weekdays solo, avg 22 to 24 mi - one of which is a 'climbing' day. One day is oftern intervals and the other day is inbetween for leg recovery. Sometimes, when I'm not doin other stuff I'll ride a 4th wkday - often a mtb ride.
Wkends I ride 45 to 50 on Sat, of which 25 mi is at race pace in a larger group. Sunday currently is for distance and time to get my legs back from the injury - usually 55 to 65 mi. The weekend rides always finish at home, by noon.
At least once a month I do an extended climbing ride. I'm an awful climber so I do it when I can. A couple times a month I try to do an 80+ mi ride, with some decent climbing.
I'm very blessed to live in a cycle friendly place with excellent yr-round weather and a huge variety of rides.
Getting back into snow skiing, 4 yrs ago has reduced my yearly miles, but its a more than worthy trade-off. When I really get back on the bike again in Mid-April, I'm stoked to really get out almost every day. In ski season I ride 3 to 4 days a wk.
The guys and ladies I ride with are more dedicated, do more miles, and it shows.
do what suits you...
EDIT: I always seem to forget my commuting, get in about 30 mi/wk avg - 1400+ mi a yr. which I don't count into my 'riding' miles. The commute is actually very nice, low traffic, nice scenery - not sure why I always forget to count it in. Then there's uncounted other miles for shopping, trips into town, visiting... I stopped keeping close track some years ago cause it was all makin me think "I gotta do more miles!" - silly stuff... the mind is a dangerous place

I've been trying to hit a 1,000 a month this year, and have a little over 11,000 miles in right now.

I've hit 13,000km for the year from March. I'm hoping that by next spring I see 20,000km. If that means I have to sit and spin in wee hours in the winter... so be it.

I've only personally met 1 person who's ever done a crit. Most people I know do more tour-type stuff, myself included. The way I'm training, including the miles I put in, seem to work well for what I want out of cycling.

I ride for exercise that is fun, and if that is accomplished, it's not a junk mile, it's a quality mile.
Something else that is often overlooked by those interested in training is that, if you are overweight, then practically any time spent on the bike is beneficial, no matter how slow the pace.

Throw the stick!!!!
In that case I should count just walking to the bike.

Not even kidding, but for obese folks, in terms of exercise quality walking >>> their actual riding ON the bike in terms of a workout and calories burned. When you're carrying a lot of extra weight, you need a lot of power expenditure to keep it upright and mobile.

I used to do over 800 km a week with 2 hours of tennis per day after cycling. This was only from April-September, gotta love that four month summer vacation. I haven't been out for a ride in about a month .

About 3500 miles for the year so far. Im probably near the end for riding as the weather has been both violent (Hurricane Sandy) and cold. Also there is a Nor'Easter on tap for Wednesday.
I feel like I should have done 5000 miles this year but really the best riding temps for me here are (in general) from April to June and Sept to Late October. I did do a lot of riding during July and August but it was scary hot.
On the up side my weight is down near 100 lbs in the 16 months ive been riding and even with the very little bit Ive done in the past 2 weeks my weight hasnt really changed one way or the other so riding has served me well. Also Ive started jogging and fast distance walking too. Maybe a cheapo gym membership for the winter will best serve me.
The other thing I feel Ive accomplished this past season was that I have now reached a certain level of cycling so that even after not riding for a long period of time I feel I can get on the bike and run a respectible half century without any issue where as before this season I would have needed to run a few 20 mile week day runs as a prelude to my now regular 50 mile weekend runs.
Next season i will work on speed althought that is up for me this year too.

Mind you have discovered that when I was doing Sky Rides from the National Cycle Centre I have been doing 58 miles in a day, not bad
#90
You gonna eat that?
But how far do you ride at a time? I typically ride 15-40 miles on each ride, occasionally a little longer.

3200 miles so far this year. I'll finish just shy of 4,000. Longest ride this year was a relatively short 71 miles. So, lots of medium range 30-50 mile rides.

Over 3200 miles this year. Just one century. Most of my rides are in the 30-60 range.

Average is about 33mi per ride. In the warmer months, 200-300 per week; colder months, around 100-150 per week.
Sitting at 6,400+ for the year so far, hoping to make it to 7k.

Counting commuting, 9.6 miles per ride twice a day. Not much of a "road ride" I know.
Real rides on weekends are mainly 33 miles or 50 miles, with usually 65 mile Sunday rides over the summer.

Cycled about 40 miles today on a group ride up the Fallowfield Loop to the National Cycle Centre.
When I cycle up there and then include a 16 mile bike ride I end up doing 58 miles approx.
