Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The powerplant in this is likely more reliable than that 12 cylinder boat anchor they pulled out.

I wussed out of the available group rides today and drove to the corner of the valley so I could ride in the less trafficy areas of Ventura County. I saw a lot of other riders and it was near perfect weather. I started from a place where a lot of riders start rides and I found myself warming up with a group of 5 other riders who were going the same direction as I was. They were friendly and invited me to ride with them. They seemed to be keeping a decent pace despite one of them being on a full suspension mountain bike, another with a huge backpack and elbow pads, and another on a bike he had added an electric motor to which he said had "changed his life".

I try to never underestimate anyone and there was a pro mtb racer who used to come on our short Sunday club rides with his race bike so I know it can be done but once the first bigger hill came they vanished. I kept thinking they would catch back up but I didn't see them again. I did see a friend who took some pictures of a nice valley.
Lake Sherwood is out there with the country club and golf course where the PGA has an event. People who live out there have serious money.

It's a beautiful valley.

Bidding is under $27K. I'm sure he's spent more than that on it. Must be hard to see where you're going.

OK, fact checked and this is kind of right. He does shot the boy cleaning the tub (not immediately) but he pardoned two other people beforehand.

Not too small. Mostly South of the C&D canal -- more rural. And pretty flat.

I remember that patch. Does it still start from the Gore place? The first year they started there the driving directions routed you under that really low railroad bridge. There was a news story about it the other night. So many bridge strikes. I nearly destroyed my IF the first time I went to the ride. The day after the ex emailed the club and they changed the driving directions. IIRC, the signed clearance is 8’ 6”. I later measured my bike on the roof of the Mazda. 8’ 4”.
