I got the Nova off of Ebay. I think Downtube has a UK dealer that posts here too. I can't remember his moniker at the moment.

But seriously though, if I am in the UK I would be hunting for a used Brompton or Moulton bike.

I used my cell phone to take the pic. I believe you can program most digital camera to show date/time stamp.

Those Big Apples look really big. Are those the standard 2.0s or a larger version?

Try contacting the guys in the link. I believe the Indonesian outfit has direct links with Dr. Yan himself, so you should get the same quality Mini.

I believe there are plans to reintroduce the Mini. Dr Yan asked me about my Mini shock article, so there seems interest.

How much clearance do you have with them?

I only ask because I'm thinking of getting some 2.35 BA's and I'm worried I might be cutting it close.

Anyone swap out an IGH to a FS bike?

I have an old 8fs. I understand the dropouts are 135mm. In addition, I own a IGH downtube with a Sturmey Archer XFR, I think. This has 110mm dropouts. I've inquired about swapping it into the fs ,but my bike guy said it would be a pain i.e adding spacers, stress on an aluminum frame, having to redish wheeel etc. Also, my FS does not have horizontal dropouts. It's got some kind of funky insert where the dropouts are, but not a classic horizontal drops.

Anyway, anybody ever do this? I would like 7-8 speeds but would settle for a old style 3 speed if it would be easy. The less hassle the better.

Love the cushiness of the fs, but miss the features of an IGH.

I see that downtube no longer sells the DT full suspension with an IGH

Thanks in advance.

I installed a Shimano RedBand 8spd in my 8FS with vertical drops.. you'll need a tensioner (like a Singulator) as the movement of the rear triangle will change the chain tension (not a unified rear triangle design) .. I used mine a lot for trail riding and also installed a Schlumpf Mountain Drive for the really low gearing .. I ran this setup for a couple of years with no problems before selling it .. now when I want a folding mountain bike, I use my Dahon Zero G ..

Thanks, Bruce. Looks good. I'm not really handy with a wrench so I would probably get my LBS guy to so this.(I can fix flats and do tune ups, that's it!). So I would think it would take: new hub, fit the hub to a wheel, cost of tensioner. What would be a roundabout cost for somethign like this? Labor only.

Would this work?

In the Q&A it says that rear spacing is 130mm. would this work?

Utah Trikes has a Nexus 8spd available .. I still have the setup off of my 8FS on the shelf ( I sold my 8FS as a stock, derailleur bike) .. complete RedBand wheel, shifter, singulator, etc... pm if interested.

I've noticed the Nova has the same integrated headset found on the 9FS. Has anyone tried to separate the headset? There are 2 bolts, and removing those doesn't seem to release the headset. Am I missing something?

You need to fold the stem and release the bolt going into the steerer tube.

A little force? Have you been able to separate the folding handlebar stem from the steerer tube? If all you have left is the steerer tube (and forks) stuck in the head tube then you should be able to push that whole assembly through both head bearings and out.

Looks like I was able to remove the folding handlebar from the fork by knocking out the compression nuts in the headset. Apparently, they held on to the fork tube.

Hi guys,

Warm greetings from Indonesia..
my name is J.P Ferry Armand, all of you guys may call me ArtMan.
I'm from Indonesia, back here we've the ID-DownTube Community, called IDDT.
FYI, IDDT is the most active folding bike community across the nation, we're very2
actively use our DT to the max, probably a li'll bit beyond your regular daily ride.

Several months a go, we've go to Bromo mountain, a month a go we did a tour across
Central Java Province, from Dieng to Yogyakarta.

Guys, below are both of my lovely DT bike..

The ultimate Black Dotty "coolpapa"

The Gorgeous Red DonNa "hotmama"

OK, guess that's all for now...

Let's ride for a better earth.

Thanks a lot Joseph,
Yes, we do have a website..but it still a very basic website, this the link to our website https://www.id-downtube.com/
there you can find some of our community picture, certainly hope that those picture could tell you more about the IDDT Community.
And Joseph, if someday you had a chance to come to Indonesia....please inform us, we'll arrange a memorable short/long trip for you.

Please allow me to tell you guys a li'll bit about my lovely IDDT and off course, my downtube....
Both of those DT foldies are my favorite bike, among other bike that I have. Though it's not expensive, but it is customize-able.
And what I love the most is, there's a home for all of us the downtube user, here in Indonesia. This community is very solid, fun, committed to use our DT to the max, and we're very2 actively gathered together every Sunday morning, or on every short trip twice a month, or on along trip once a month (it's a let's get lost n go mad bike journey), and off course, most of us do Bike to Work/Home on weekdays..

About my downtube, I first own the black 9FS, ride it here and there across the Indonesia archipelago for a 1,5 year with the IDDT or
on a business trip and also take it several time to Japan, USA and Europe also for a business trip..
I really use the 9FS to the max, and the poor zoom suspension fork is wrecked only in a week, hahahahah...
Customize and personalize the 9FS with a lot of parts set up and adjustment..till now, this is my ultimate BLACK DOTTY coolpapa.

Then I decided to add a Nova. Not the new one...but I hunt for the Nova DLT version for several months.
Actually, the real color of the Nova is white, and I custom paint it to a temptation red (I name it that way LOL)..I also do a lot of
customization and personalize it, until the way she looks today, I dedicate the nova for my lovely wife, that's why I name it
RED DOwNtube NovA hotmama...hahahahah..
