Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It took me a while to figure out my own recipe. I was never the type with an explosive sprint in the last 50 yards, and trying to compete in that game wasn't a successful plan for me. I was much better at winding up a 53x11 from a long way out (200+) and holding a high speed. It also meant that I was usually the one making the first jump, and people were having to respond to my game, where I was using my best weapon. Much more successful for me.

My goals for this first race.
1. Do not crash
2. Do not crash
3. Do not crash
4. Finish
5. Have fun

As much as I would LOVE to get on the podium, that’s not what I am trying to do. I havnt even seen a crit in person yet.

A decently set up space where you're sitting just inside the apex of the listening triangle is a wonderful thing.

Well, I tried to get someone to ride with me when he was in town but apparently 6 am is too early.

Ahhh..I didn't catch that this will be your first. In that case, your priorities are in order. Good luck.

It's a Pro-Ject Debut that I picked up in 2014 when I moved into this office. Hooked up to a Pro-Ject pre-amp, inexpensive Denon AVR, and some old KEF mini towers that I had at home.

Crabon arm hasn't assploded yet, but you never know what tomorrow brings.

Home system is similar, but a notch up.

I would assume that I'll be working on the kitchen. Not sure what the plan is for VA trips this year. Hasn't been discussed, yet.

No need to glamorize it. It just is glamourous.

If you stay on the boat, you don't have to worry about sharks.

I have a classic vintage DiscWasher brush from the 1980's that works ok for my purposes. I actually have the DiscKit that has the Zerostat antistatic gun and the stylus brush, all in a wooden case. Will try to post pics later.

I was being facetious about the brush. Those are common and cheap, $10-15.

Haven't seen a Zerostat in a long time. They're about $100 now!
