Joe Bell Painted Benotto Pista

Picked up this beautiful old 54cm Benotto frameset recently & quickly put it together using parts I had on hand.
Apparently the seller purchased it some time ago from the San Diego Velodrome Swap a few hours south from me. Anyway, I'd really love to know when this was painted (doesn't quite express what he does) by Joe Bell & his team.
Research points to this being a late 70's-early 80's build (one being clue being the flat fork crown) but I'm not 100% certain. I usually like to switch from SS to Fixed every so often but this will be a neighborhood rider rather than a long distance commuter for obvious reasons.
Waiting on cages & straps to take her out.

I think Joe Bell writes the paint date on the steer tube on the fork (at lease he was in 2012 when he painted a bike I know own).

And lovely bike!

More recent Joe Bell graphics delete San Diego.
the full seat tube contrasting color suggests 1984 or so, before splatter paint was hip.

I'd disagree about it not being indicative of 'what he does'. From what I can see of the paintjob (and I've seen more than I care to), that's top-notch work. The lining around the seat tube lugs is clean/crisp.

I absolutely agree, I meant it as a compliment. In other words, simply "painting" sounds like an understatement considering the caliber of the work he did.

JB AFAIK is still doing paint jobs so in theory, it could have been completed recently.
Beautiful, I love his work and have a couple nice bikes with his paint. Like repechage states probably vintage since recent jobs are simply "JB" tagged.

Glad that helped!

Joe was able to send me a vial of touch up paint based on the paint date code if that's something you want/need. He was very responsive and helpful.
