The Bottecchia Giro D'Italia and the Professional shared the same frame/fork set. The difference is in the components with the Pro having dominantly Campagnolo Record parts with Universal 61 center pulls.
I have the former from the early 70's and converted it to the Pro. The headset is indicator of which model it was sold as if not replaced. The Pro has a Campagnolo HS and the Giro a Way Assauto.
The frames and fork is fully chromed and then painted, hence the rough chrome over most of the frame.
Most high-end bikes of this vintage have a more relaxed angles and long stays. Other examples are the Motobeacne Le Champion, Peugeot PX -10, and Bianchi. DO typically have the eyelets for fenders along with strong possibility of design for 27" rims unless sold with sew-ups.
Stem on this bike looks original, if it is a Carnelli. If the derailleurs are original, then the statement about the HS is off!

The hubs look like Nuovo Tipo. Info indicates that they were introduced mid 60s which fits with the estimated vintage for the bike. During that time frame some amateurs actually rode their bikes to races for the event.
