There is a lake in the heart of Dallas that has a MUP around it and attracts a lot of bikes. That could be it. It's pretty crowded most of the time so I never go there. Rode it a lot when I was in school.
Lots of other lakes in the area, but I'm not aware of any with loops. Also, not familiar with Houston lakes at all.

Good heavens, they're still in business, despite making mediocre product, although I'm sure they've been bought by some huge conglom. If my mother sent me to the store for ginger ale and I came back with that instead of Canada Dry, woe betide.

My FTP is about 10% lower on the trainer and it creeps up a little during the indoor season, as LAJ notes below.
As a guy who has studied reward, I thought of this theory, but it's such a big effect that I have serious doubts.
This has happened to me both winters I've actually "trained" indoors, but my outdoor power falls at the same time and I think I'm somehow just adapting mechanically to the trainer and the dedicated bike.
Whatever the effect is from, it's real as hell and discouraging when one need encouragement the most.

Yep.
When I was in school at SMU in '81-84, the area was so much less congested than it is now. When I needed to get out and get some air, I'd ride over to the lake and ride the loop a few times. Not many people out there on weekdays. On weekends it was too crowded to ride other than casually, but it was a nice place to watch the "pretty" people.
After I finished school, I sailed in the small boats pretty regularly on that lake. The condition of the water at the time was enough to teach you how to avoid capsizing.

Lift some weights. Coach John makes me feel a bit better when he tells me the weights mess with the bike. Any straw to clutch will work. Plus, he doesn't expect killer anything this time of the year, except for moving iron. I will say, my Saturday Z3 beatdowns are a certain level of hell after moving said iron.

I take cores out and wash 'em when they start acting up though, and that usually fixes things.

As if my conundrum couldn't get worse, my insurance company and the hospital group that has an effective monopoly in the county are in a contract dispute. I can't see any of my doctors unless I pay out of network rates. The contract expired October 3rd and no solution. SMH

I cannot understand most of what's said, but it doesn't sound like the subject matter that I consult my witch doctor about.
