Hi Elad63 - I like those old fendered touring style Pugs a lot - I have a similar looking one ( a UE8M). It is sort of heavy, but once you're underway it just sails.
Yours is evidentally newer - the rainbow pattern puts it between '84-'88.

Just scored an old Trek 'Professional Series' USA with 531 tubing, investment cast lugs and shimano 105. Price? Free from someone that I mentioned that I liked old road bikes
Seems like I got my $ worth out of this one, it had been serviced a few years back, so the grease isn't dried up, and everything is already set up to go, and the tires just aired right up... but I am missing the headbadge though. Have to keep an eye on eBay for one.

Nice Trek.
Hit your local Trek dealer. Chances are they have the head badges in stock. They fall off regularly. I have read of a few people writing Trek directly and getting badges at no charge. The new Bellview (sp) has the older style badge on it.

Trek will send you a free badge too, likely the new style. I got one for my 1990 Trek, it may not be period correct but it looks good in my opinion.

Nothing special, but it's the first abandoned bike I've gotten in years...I picked up a red Schwinn Sports Tourer...frame, fork, BB, cranks and 27 inch wheels.

Picked up a 2003 REI Novara XR today. It came with a pair of Ortleib waterproof panniers and as I was taking them off I noticed one was heavy. Inside was a lot of goodies (large Kriptonite cable, Topeak Morph pump with inline gauge, Topeak survival gearbox toolset, RC retractable cable lock, new tube, small bungee, pliers, Cygo dual lite). What a nice Easter basket. I may be able to sell the accessories for more than I paid for the bike (which is in excellent shape).

Home for the holiday and stopped into the LBS for consumables, noticed this out back and asked about it. "We put a lot of junk bikes out back, help yourself."
I have been wanting to find a Tenax Schwinn but of course... like all of my other finds so far this year, she's too big. The front wheel was nowhere to be found but I grabbed a suitable replacement from the "junk" pile.
I'll post an updated pic when she's all tuned and clean.

Schwinn Traveler
This is my first post after lurking for a few months. I just picked up this Schwinn Traveler for $8.50 at a Flea Market. I believe it is an '85. It has a 4130 ChroMoly frame and was in fairly decent shape when I found it. The surface rust cleaned up nicely with lemon juice and aluminum foil. I also replaced the front tire and tube, trued the wheel, greased the chain, and retaped the handlebars.
This was my first ever restoration. I planned on flipping it, but after riding all day Saturday I'm having a hard time saying goodbye!

I got this bike yesterday. It was neglected but it still is a very nice bike. It is a Marinoni Special most likely built with Columbus SL.
Parts include:
-Half of a Gipiemme /Colnago crankset
-Nuovo record headest
-Campy track pedals (or just hacked SL pedals)
-Early Dura-Ace RD
-Pantographed Nuovo Record seat post ( Anybody familiar with this logo?)
-Cinelli bars and stem
Best part is the price. This bike was included FOR FREE! with the purchase of a Super Record equipped road bike. You just don't see Marinonis being given away everyday around here !

[QUOTE=michael k;10627057]Trueyanks,
Welcome and nice find.
I just picked one up also. A little cleaning up and it shines nice. This also has Schwinn tires.
Thanks for the encouragement. Your frame and components look identical to mine. Is this also a 1985 model? My rear tire is still Schwinn, but the front tire was a mess. (I think that's what scared everyone away from it at the flea market.)

Thanks. I think you're right. I now stop at every garage sale when I see a bike out front. Last week I had to pass on a mint condition, all original 1977 Raleigh Sprite 10 for $20.00 because I couldn't fit in my car and was too far from home to double back. I wonder if my wife would mind me keeping a rack in the back, just in case...

There is 85' on the hubs so i'm guessing it's very possible.
Ps. I would of rode the Raleigh home and told the wife the car ran out of gas.

Hey, Sean,
There's a guy over at ratrodbikes.com selling some 24x1 3/8" tires. Of course, there were several sizes of 24x1 3/8" tires.
Now that I think of it, I've got some 24x1 1/4" wheels that might make that thing go faster. Probably not worth the cost of shipping, though.
Cute bike.

Oh -If she doesn't want a rack, carry a crescent wrench in the glove box: You will be surprised what you can fit in with the front wheel removed. Of course she will have to tolerate grease stains all over the passenger seat, but you should give her that choice...
Also, you should have her read through this thread so she knows what to expect.

absolutely! you can find basic trunk racks at goodwill for $2 or so from time to time...i have one of those for that sort of thing. Then again, my main car has a roof rack that holds 3 bikes & we usually go garage sale hunting in the Suburban that besides being generally cavernous also has a double roof rack on top.....but it's usually furniture we're bringing home from those venues...
