Playing with large amounts of acids, solvents, oils, and paints is so far where I've drawn the line with my bike hobby. I'd need to find a place that I didn't care if it stank or stained.

Here's one you can appreciate from my local FB for a mere $300.

Sold - provided the $300 also buys me the privilege of beating the previous owner over the head with it. Somehow, I think they'd draw the line before that.

STYLIN'. ^^^

NOT STYLIN'. ^^^

That "gas tank " needs to take on the headlight duties, imo.
Not a purist, so LEDs would get the job done...a little retro/futuristic vibe, and less fussiness around the lines of the Springer fork.

Agreed. There's a whole alternate take on the genre waiting to be explored with that tank. Needs a slammed 130mm road stem too. Maybe some warp nacelles.

Not really my cup of tea but it would be nice to sometimes see a bit more variety than the 70s to 90s road bikes that generally dominate our little corner of the internet.

Ironically, with the trend toward wider is better it looks as if some have come full circle and the balloon tire is back.

Thick is quick.

Chunky is funky.

Fat is all that.

Wouldn't you say this is partially due to the many years of quality tire options being available only in 27" or 700C and only for racing?

One's still screwed if they want some standard 26x2.125" whitewall balloon tires that don't ride like a drunk wildebeest.

Oh, sure. And I'm right there with the belief that tire choice is at times a bigger factor in ride quality/performance than anything.

But I have to say, the few times recently that I've been out on my '61 Schwinn with cheap repop "Typhoon Cord" tires that are unbelievably in fantastic condition despite being purchased sometime around 2003, it didn't suck. Dream ride? Oh no. But I have other bikes for that.

If the people want high performance white wall 26x2.125, let it be so. But if one isn't dead set on white walls, there are some good options in 26" tires out there.

I wonder why Kenda doesn't offer their Kwest 26 X 1.95 in a wide whitewall, they offer some of the 700c Kwest line with whitewalls. I have a set of blackwalls on my old Takara Highlander and I love the ride and handling I think they'd do wonders for an old balloon tire bike.
