Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Spectacular day in the Santa Monica mountains today. 9 riders, 57 miles with 4200 climbing jammed into the middle. Felt pretty good but nodding off now.

BikeForums must have released a SnapChat function where posts vanish after an hour or two.

It was quite scary for us but we are all relieved that he is ok.

Wow. Glad it was just the wrist and not a neck, spine, skull, or all the above.

My top speed is 44, on a downhill that I have done just that one time. I was comfortable enough to attempt it, but never attempted it again.

Preride nutrition of vegetarian B&G and a latte. Only went 10 miles because I was wishing I had gloves on the whole time. Post-ride guava cider just procured...

Meet Roscoe's foster sister Camila.

Unknown age, probably < 1 year old. Very energetic. Roscoe says F that noise, it ruins nap time.

I find myself unable to nap. I lie down and feel nauseous, almost. A tumbler of Nescafé and I’m good to go. Still fall asleep around eight and wake up around 3:30

I have, but I'm sure having a cat and a JRT (even an elderly one) would be next level.

Well, like all useful software https://bikecalc.com has decided to modernize and "improve" their software. Probably used some widget that no longer runs on Chrome...

What a mess. Anyone know of an alternative speed at cadence calculator?

They don't have support for a 9 tooth cog, which some of us Ekar fanboyz want. UI makes absolute no sense what so ever. Non-standard widgets on the pull down menus for example. Really horrible. Maybe it is iPhone crap. On Linux / Firefox and Android it is truly bad. I can't see any way to enter a complete cassette. They really made a mess of it.

If someone on my team made a mess like this they would get the Gaffer's scowl accompanied by "who wrote this <expletive> anyway?"

"Sikh and ye shall be fined": I found another one that works so I can replace all the book marks to bikecalc.org These folks actually have a list of common cassettes including the Ekar.https://www.gear-calculator.com/

Well, he is the Captain, and 20 years of fire response makes you stay away from consciousness altering substances. So for him it will be a minor nuisance.

You're always welcome, you just have to get to the ride start. I wish I had the camera, there is water flowing everywhere and the hills are as green as they get.
Some old pics, you've seen them before.

High above Malibu Canyon on the climb.

I had a veggie bowl for lunch today. Veggies over rice and black beans. Vol and datlas should be proud of me. I'm trying to lose my superfluous blubber accumulated over the past 18 months. No latte was consumed. I had 850 ml of coffee 33% caffeine with breakfast.
