Can anyone ID this Kuwahara?

I'm supposed to pick this up tomorrow after work but haven't been able to determine what year or model it is. It's strictly a donor for a frame my size and if any of you in Western IL or Eastern IA want the frame and fork it's yours for the asking. It's not worth the cost to ship it but might be worthy of a short road trip. Then again, it might not LOL.

The serial number should be on the lower end of the seat tube. The year and month of frame manufacture can be found there.

Looks like a mid-80s Kuwahara Caravan

It's going to be a couple more days before I get my hands on it now. I was hoping to get some idea what it was ahead of time.

That's what I thought at first with the drillium triple and the fender and rack tabs on the fork ends and rear dropouts but it lacks the cantilever brakes I've seen on all the Caravans I've found pictures of. The again I haven't found all that many pictures of Caravans.

Just noticed the cage bosses on the underside of the down tube so maybe there was a Caravan that used caliper brakes instead of cantis?

It's home and it is a "Cutlass" according to the script on the top tube. Rougher than it looked in the ad picture but still well worth the purchase price in parts. The frame and fork are straight and would make a good foundation for a commuter with all the fender and rack bosses.
The crankset and SPD's will probably go on my Soma Prestige which was built by Kuwahara. Bars, stem, seat post, brakes, shifters and derailleurs will find their way into other projects. The wheels were nice once upon a time but while true and smooth are now in pretty poor condition cosmetically and have a lot of scoring on the brake tracks. I was needing a wheelset for my '67 Varsity, looks like they're it. The saddle looks pretty decent but has some seperation from the base in the rear so it goes on the Varsity as well.

What appeared to be heavy corrosion on the crankset and RD turned out to be dried white lithium grease so that's one for the win column. Wheels will clean up "OK", another plus, but still destined for the Varsity. The seat post is STUCK. It's currently soaking in Kroil and I'm guessing this one will take about 5 days of soaking and giving it a good smack every day before it budges. But budge it will.

Well, I missed by a couple days. Day 3 and the seat post is out! Has some small dings in it from my vice but they'll clean up to where they'll be hardly noticeable, it will never be a show piece but will make a nice post for a rider. It's a 26.8mm SR Laprade.

I would suggest using a heat gun, the type used for paint stripping and other uses. I have had a lot of success with the heat gun on seized bicycle parts.
