Thank you for your feedback. BTW I found the same bike posted by a different seller in the city next door to the one I went to yesterday but at twice the price. I left him my reply message to calling me a fraud and a scammer but of course he has not replied.

Most of my purchases have gone well, with just a couple that didn't. The first was entirely Yahoo mail's fault, I had been communicating with the seller pretty often, suggested a meetup the following morning, and from then it was just radio silence. I even drove out to the town he lived in in case he responded (not a big sacrifice, my favorite bakery is in that town.) A half hour after the meetup time had passed I remembered to check my spam folder and sure enough, he had sent me a confirmation with his address as well as an angry follow-up message because I didn't show up. YahooMail can suck it.

The second, seller didn't reply for days at a time. We set up a rough day/time, but he never sent an address. It was a three hour drive so I took off hoping he'd get back to me... He didn't. I set up a second meeting a couple days later, showed up at his house, and had to knock at the door for several minutes before he answered, I almost called it quits and went home. In retrospect I really wish I'd haggled on that one.

That Bianchi loks like a lower end '86ish bike, the Univega Hybrid might be a be bike.

Rare frame for the connoisseur ,Vintage Columbus Max Grandis Overmax Frame a very high end steel frame besting the Colnago Master X Light or even the Bianchi in Columbus EL or the Bianchi in Columbus Max, the Overmax was and is a very specific tubing made by Columbus for Grandis which was more resistant and than the Max tubing itself, I already have an Overmax but this one is truely one of its kind. Not cheap but craftsmanship is here

Where I live there are a slew of bikes posted on Facebook Marketplace, at least a couple of hundred vs only around 50 to 60 on CL, but both places about 99% are low end bikes, with some guys trying to get a lot of money for what was a low end bike back in the 70's, but because it's steel with lugs they think it's something special and we're to think that too!

Kids bike - swapping Shimano Altus to Microshift Acolyte - worth it?

I take my son to school daily via bike - he's in the 2nd grade. I try to persuade him to shift gears but he's hesitant. To be fair, the shift lever is rather heavy when downshifting. The shift cables are reasonably new. I'm curious if it would be worthwhile to swap out 8 speed Shimano Altus for Microshift Acolyte. Has anyone done a side by side comparison? I guess its also possible that something is wrong or has been damaged with his current setup any that replacing it with anything new would be an improvement.

I guess this is half "would something new work better?" and half "would something new be better for small hands?"

You might be better switching to a twist shift rather than trigger. Shimano and Sram both make 8 speed twist shifts for 8 speed shimano RDs.

My daughter is in second grade also. She is just starting to figure out shifting. I highly recommend switching to a twist shifter. These seem to be way easier, more intuitive, and more fun for kids. My daughter also won't take her hands off the bars. Her idea of a turn signal is pointing with her index finger while holding the grip with the rest of her hand.

One word of warning - the kid's twist shifters require an odd size grip (small) that can be hard to find, but they are out there if you look hard enough. Mine are from SRAM. Worst case, you buy a foam grip and cut it down to size with a knife.

On a Sunday, take your son to a big open high school parking lot (or similar) that has a nice slope to it and let him go at it.
