I've snapped one of those exact seatposts in the past and it broke off without warning. So easy to impale yourself on the stub or at least fall off the back of the bike. I sold nearly all of those type of tapered top posts and replaced them with fully round posts and preferably steel of titanium. I would not go beyond the limit mark and, at the time, I also sold some very collectable bikes that I loved because the frames were 1cm too small and I needed to raise the saddle just beyond the limit of the seatpost. Please be careful.

I'm not sure about snapping a seatpost, but there have been several people that have posted photos of tearing up the seat tube lug, seatpost clamp, and upper end of the seat tube. Taking the value of a very nice bike down to ZERO. Thus a good reason to be conservative with the seat post insertion.
