Not everything does what it is supposed to on them, the plastic shifters on them are almost useless. If you find one that has metal shifters though, they are great, possibly my favorite shifters I've used. The wheels on these things seem like they were also designed to be an object that can knock someone out,
never found anything else quite that heavy. I think Wal-Mart needs to scrap most of the bikes the sell, and go back to these, except maybe keep the alloy wheels from the new ones.

That Klunker is awesome. If I can't remove the cross-threaded bottom bracket cup from my Trek 820, I think I know what kind of frame I want to use for my upcoming project now.

That's a new one on me, I've never heard of that model. On a related note, I found two Schwinn Probes at different thrift stores on the same day, another model I was unaware of. I believe the Probe was a low end MTB...

This is my 1997 Cannondale Super V2000

It's brand new and all original - except it has narrower slick tires. I love it but I can't ride it anymore as it has grip shifters. Been thinking of converting it to rapid fire shifters, but it is so perfect and original I hate to change anything on it.

And I picked up this bike the other day at a garage sale

It didn't have the model on it, but it said CAD3 and I knew that mango color AND it has the oversized CODA headshok - so I knew it was something special. Love was in the air AND they were only asking $100 so I got it for $75.00. It's already converted to rapid fire shifters, it's a 1997 F1000 AND IT'S MINE! I love this bike and it's FAST!

Bought some parts tonight, and going back for more tomorrow. Here is my Barracuda A2E currently:

It will have a Nexus 8 speed IGH with coaster brake, XT front disc hub, both with Sun Rhyno Lite rims and Schwalbe 26x2.0" Big Apples, 700c alloy rigid disc fork (May get a Cro-Moly 26" fork in the future), Avid BB7 disc brake, fenders, and the rest I'm still figuring out. I want a basket, and I'm thinking I'll go with a large Wald front one, would that be a good idea on here? I think I'll pick north road bars, and maybe a Brooks Flyer if I feel I can afford it.

Sucks that it came with all the anti-rotation washers except the ones for vertical dropouts, otherwise I might be able to ride it tomorrow.

I've just got a 1993 GT Ricochet.
I love it!
I'm taking it on a 50k ride this evening because i'm staying in the suburbs for the weekend.

It is a infinity tange croMo frame with a Rockshox Recon fork.
With Shimano LX and STX parts.

Posted in another thread asking if anyone knew the year of this bike. Find out it's a 1982 Raleigh Trail Rider. I worked at a bike shop several years ago in between jobs and an older woman came in wanting to get it repaired. She only wanted to spend $20. Estimate was $100. I offered her $25 for it and she accepted.

I have a feeling that may be a 1983 because of the cranks. The 1982 had one-piece cranks. I'd have to see a closeup of the BB shell to be sure, though. I think that there are/were bottom bracket innards available that fit into Ashtabula BB shells and accommodate 3-piece cranks so that retrofit may have been made to a 1982.

You have a valid argument BUT I actually like the small frame. It affords some distinct advantages is tight fast singletrack that I very much prefer. I also have a Fat Chance Wicked in similar sizing that I alternate rides with as I can't decide which I like best.
That said I am in the process of building a 95 Steel Stumpjumper that is what most would say is the correct size to see how I like the larger sizing.

Yes it is in GREAT shape! I may switch to a dirt drop bar or similar later on, but for now I'm going to add some new grips and just ride it as is
