Great morning for a 30 mile ride. Yesterday's afternoon rains cooled things down for a few hours this morning and it was a cool start with a very warm ending. Could have been worst.

That's good to hear. I'm sure the farmers are very happy. The crops didn't look very good when we were up there during the heat wave, two weeks ago. Some of the farmers in the Elizabeth area were talking about cutting the corn down and taking a loss for the year. I don't know if they did or not.

70 miles on Sat doing the local pedal for paws. It beat my previous longest ride of the year by 30 miles. Hot and humid for much of the back half, however, I didn't begin to tire until the last 15 miles when the hills and heat began to make their prescence felt. Good to know I can do the miles as I'll need a metric century for my b-day this year.

As to corn, around sw wi its pretty much shot for the year and rain won't help it now although the soybeans would benefit.

A bit hot and humid on the way to work this AM and really hot and humid on the way home. 20 miles. Didn't seem nearly as hot as a week or so ago when it was consistently above 100F. Mid-90's today.

Super-easy, super-slow 17 mile solo recovery ride at 5:30AM this morning... because Sunday's 50 mile "recovery" ride was most definitely not a recovery ride!

28 miles this morning. Noticed that a road crew was going to do some paving so I cut my ride short and only did 28 miles instead of 37.

Two rained out rides in a row. I'm hoping for a break in this rain so I can at least get in a 6-10 mile neighborhood ride this afternoon sometime, although I'm not really counting on it.

32 mile ITT over rolling terrain

...okay, actually it was two 16 mile ITTs back-to-back, with a Personal Best for chugging 20oz. of iced coffee in between.

38 miles at sunrise along the lakefront in Chicago. Nice weather with a 25 minute sun-shower.

I was out at 6 this morning and got my ride in. Kept watching the storms approach from the west. Got home with 5 minutes to spare...

No bike commute today. Around maybe 4PM the sky turned so dark it looked like half an hour after sunset. Then the heavens unleashed an unholy fury.

I had scheduled a buyer's property showings and they cancelled.

I set a date with c_gallagh and we had a fun, fast, tandem ride. Nice to have a back-up plan.

Yesterday I woke up at 0530 to make it to a ride in southern Indiana at 0730. Leaving Memphis, we heading north into very pretty scenery.

This is the covered bridge in the village of Leota.

The inside of the bridge is a pretty nice place to get out of the sun and rest a spell.

Speaking of spells, we we in Amish country. I believe this symbol means "Beware the English".

Even the Amish think recumbents are weird, given the reaction of a family I encountered along the way.

Any way the ride was lovely.

The last 15 miles were then ridden in 100 degree weather and was more of a death march. I still feel wasted.

41 miles, awesome tailwind! Rode towards Chena hot springs and wife picked me up and we soaked. Great day, great ride. Rode the 520 as I am getting ready to ride from Anchorage to Fairbanks, finally.
