Garmin Edge 520 error - missing right side power pedal

Ok so I just got a set of Pawertap P1 pedals...full both sided power...and I got an Edge 520 as a computer upgrade. I've run this combo 2x now and I keep getting an error on screen (while riding) saying :right side power pedal missing. I assume this would be the sort of error I'd get if the battery was dead in the right pedal but the batteries are brand new. So am I seeing some other issue?

Thoughts?

What does the manual say? Are you in the proper mode for two sided power meter?

There's a manual?

Oh look there is a manual (found it on the web). There is no specific mode for 2 sided power meter...at least nothing is called out in the user manual.

Of note...the Garmin is recording 2 sided data. I get left/right balance at the end of rides. But I'm constantly (every couple of min) getting that message about no right side pedal).

Sounds like it is time to call Garmin. In my experience, their tech support phone folks are pretty helpful.

Or Powertap if they are powertap pedals. Personally, I would not hold Garmin responsible for knowing the correct settings to interface anothers product. To me that should be the responsibility of PowerTap since they want Garmin device users to buy their pedals and other power meter products.

But Garmin might know too.
