Therapeutic Use Exemptions
Has anyone had to file one to USADA? There is a high likelihood that I will have to even though I will never be considered a national caliber athlete and I will most likely never be tested. But I will probably be taking a "banned at all times" drug.

1 - hope whatever you're treating inst too serious
2 - if it's asthma, most (check to be sure) dont require a TUE, but rather a declaration of use, which is a much simpler streamlined process

If you've got a prescription for it, and you're not doing NRC Pro 1,2 races, or Nationals, I wouldn't bother. The chance you ever get tested would have to be truely deminimis.
On the other hand, the chance the yank you around, make the process a pain in the ass, and maybe even deny it would appear to be significant.

^^^ Unless you are doing a national-level event, there is pretty much 0 chance it will matter. All that really matters is whether you can live with yourself and your sense of fair play for whatever you are doing. If it is something that you need for your health, and something that a doctor prescribes for you in good faith, that should not even remotely be an issue.

God damn cheater. You'll do anything, wont you?
Anyway, I had to send one a few years ago for my Asthma and it was simple. The paperwork was on their site and my doc just had to sign it.

Low normal hormone readings do not justify a TUE. So the Low T diagnosis won't work.

I autologous blood doped last week. Hct went from 22 to 28. I was also on a S-load of alubuterol. Pretty much clean right now, unless a beta-blocker is considered a PED. I don't think anyone is going to care.

This thread pertains to my interests, since it's looking likely I'm going to need another shot of 'roids in my knee before the Winter is done.
In fact just this morning I was browsing USADA, and found that their documentation is much improved from last year when I had the same questions.
One thing I couldn't find an answer to: how do they define "in competition" vs "out of competition" ?

So where are they testing, other than Nationals and NRC events? I've never seen it. Not saying it can't happen, just I've never seen it.

I thought one of the Florida races had testing this past year? I know they bailed out of the state crit testing, but I thought maybe they surprised people at one of the south Florida events?

I had a conversation with a US Paralympic athlete that has to do something like: Declare that she will be at her home for a certain hour during certain days to be available for unannounced tests whether they happen or not. Then if she misses a certain number of visits by not being there (or not answering the door) it counts as a positive result.
Serious business.

There was an event in Ashville NC this year (week of Masters Nats) where several riders were tested by USADA. Rumor was that an entire team was targeted due to a "tip".

I think that's a good thing. I wonder however, whether there's enough money to do enough to make much difference.

Old thread I made - awesome. So I am taking not one, but two banned substances per doctor's orders and prescription. I wonder if by admitting this I am subject to bannination? Did not get TUE.
