Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You can still add it to your cart even though it's out of stock. The Ritchey Comp stuff is nothing to write home about but the Sram S27 comp wheels make it a "good" deal in my book.

I got my brand new 2010 Force group for $850 shipped on eBay. IIRC there were several more listed for a similar price.

Was it a Force group or build kit? That Performance deal seems pretty sweet.

I played around with the checkout. Final cost is $899 (free shipping). I think it is a very good deal considered you got a frame, seat, wheels and tires.

This is a complete build kit, not just the group. Seems like a pretty sweet deal, but I would rather just buy the group and pick my own wheels, handlebars, stem, seatpost, etc.

I didn't know "build kits" existed, anyone know where to look for this stuff?

I imagine it'd be way cheaper than picking components one by one, also it's good to have spare parts laying around.

i stand corrected - i guess for that much stuff it is a good deal. I thought it was just the group.

Just me, or is that a really bad cranksetXcassette combo for climbing? 53x39 and 11x23? I'm new to road biking, but this seems like a flatlander special.

not so much the 53x39. but the fact that they don't give you options for the cassette kinda sucks. i think i am on a 12-25 in the back and i do just fine on climbs...i was using a 27 before and thought i could never do without, but you adapt.

Yes I see, I just read the details myself in the red highlight:

(Sorry, this item is Out of Stock. You can still order it and we will ship it to you as soon as it comes in)

So it sounds like you can still backorder it.

What does it matter $900 for a build kit, buy another cassette you want separate and just e-bay what you don't want!
