Do 15-20 grams matter for spin up?

I would think that farting in the peleton would be worth more, in terms of getting some separation, than the 15-20g would be at spin up.

There is some very useful information in this thread. I may try a high colonic before the next hill climb.

Typically, there is something new that I learn on BF almost everyday. The people here are an amazing resource with their creativity, innovation and care for others (and bikes).
For best results before your hill climb, you might want to use a balanced microfuge.

You have no idea how much faster I can sprint since I filed off two teeth from my 11 so I have a 9t cog now. Small contributions add up. Plus, I can draft big rigs on I-35.
What's the speed rating of a Specialized Mondo Pro at 115psi, anyway?

"JENS’ BIG RING IS 56. HIS REAR CASSETTE IS 11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-12."
BigRing
Obviously for faster spin up and easier than filing big cogs.

The 12 is for alpe d'huez. This is his climbing cassette. Otherwise there would be another 11.
Jens likes campy 11 because he can have 11 11's.

Dear Abby,
For the love of money, I switched to the KMC DX10SC ($26.23 w/ free shipping -- thank you Amazon) from the KMC x10SL (I think I paid about $60 including shipping). The drivetrain feels smooth and the shifting is like buttah. But, I'm concerned that the 15-20 gram difference might come back to haunt me over the course of a 60 mile race, or, when I need to ramp it up quickly for a sprint to the line.
Should I think about replacing other bike parts to compensate for this gain in weight? Perhaps Campy Super Record? And, fyi, I'm already on a diet to lose body weight.
Thank you.

And on the cogs you do use, file off every other tooth (be careful on the odd numbered cogs !)

I would've saved my money till I could have invested in some carbon fiber femurs. The femur is the largest bone in the human body, and we all know it is far more effective to take weight off the rider than off the bike.

So that's why I got no sprint. My left one is held together with a titanium rod and a bunch of pins. It all makes sense now.

I just picked up a YNB Titanium SFL-210 10spd chain. At 210g they claim it's the lightest in the world. I'm eager to test it out. That's about 60g less than the DA or the Ultegra.

go ahead.. ask me how much I paid for it

make it so your cassette is a 15-11. who needs anything bigger than a 15? actually, just make it a 55/11 and be done with it.
