Hello CL world,
I am letting go of my late 80s/early 90s lugged Specialized Allez road bike. I spent a couple of year working at the "Yellow Bike Project" in Austin, TX; this is a bike i built while working there. The frame is a 58 cm lugged steel frame from Japan. This is a complete Frankin-bike, none of the components are original, all parts used are high quality, more or less. listed below, to the best of my ability, is a list of the components used.
*Both wheels are Mavic Rims, front hub Shimano 105, rear is Mavic.
*Derailleurs Shimano 105
*Brakes Shimano 600
*unknown make Aluninum fork.
*Tange headset
*Salsa stem
*48cm wide bars
*Shimano brake leaver with added bar-top cross levers.
*Shimano Dura ace bar end shifter fit with classic all metal Shimano 105 levers
*New fizik bar tape
*low-end Shimano BB
*175mm Bulletproof cranks
*plastic MTB pedals with power straps
*good seat post with crappy seat( seat are so personal) (have well ridden Fizik saddle if interested)
*2 bottle cages (cage on seat tube is old school specialized rubber band cage- great for commuter coffee)

I"m 6'0" tall and 200 lb, and I've ridden this bike hundreds of miles. It's fast, light, comfortable, and a lot of fun.

Beautiful Bob Jackson Sport Touring bicycle. I purchased this frame in 2006 and it probably has 3000 miles on it.
Absolutely stunning paint job, flamboyant blue with white and turquoise box pinstriping and lug outlining.
Built up with Campagnolo derailleurs, TA Pro Vis crankset, Nitto stem and bars, Campagnolo Record seatpost.
Wheels are Campagnolo Daytona hubs laced to Velocity Synergy rims. The rear rims is their OC model.
Also includes Honjo hammered fenders, Shimano Ultegra sealed bearing headset, Panaracer Pasela folding clincher tires (700x28)
I also have a spare front wheel laced up with a Shimano generator hub that I'm willing to negotiate.
Frame size is 59 x 58.

I don't understand it either - don't see any rust - stuck seatpost or stem maybe? If the more common straight gauge Super Course's ride has been described as magical, wouldn't this double butted frame be of equal quality? Are their geometries so different?

Available is a Univega Specialissima Touring Bike which is supposed to be the same as a Miyata 1000.
It is complete with all of the really nice original parts. I rebuilt the bottom bracket and headset which should give you many carefree miles.
This will be an awesome touring rig for half of the price of a new touring bike when complete.

This bike is shown without the wheels because the rear wheel is bent. New wheels could be built around the original 40 spoke hubs or you could get a new set of wheels. The rear spacing is 126mm which is available from Velo Orange or you could respace to 130mm for even more options. Or this could be a good candidate for a 650b conversion.

1970's 531 Free spirit Ted Williams

57cm lugged steel frame and fork made of Reynolds 531,Dia-comp brake calipers and levers, Weinmenn 27 inch rims, Shimano crane rear derailleur, alloy stem and drop bars, SR cranks, Shimano forged rear dropouts and fork ends.

This frame was build in Austria by Puch/Austro-Daimler and was sears top model. Unlike most other free spirit bikes which used heavy steel tubing this model used Reynolds 531, a very high end frame building steel, but used mid level parts to keep the price down. This bike is complete but needs a full rebuild, it would make an awesome single speed conversion.
