And I finally snagged a road bike!

Picked up this 1990 Bianchi Giro the other day. Couldn't resist adding Celeste tires... It's in such good shape. Has a mix of Campy Athena/Shimano 105 components and mavic wheels on shimano 600 hubs. Ignore the pedals, I'm waiting until I have money next week to switch over to some time ATAC pedals/shoes setup.

It was about time to get a second bike, my Surly Steamroller is my bruiser but I wanted gears for long rides.

I was really fond of the gumwalls, but those celeste tires look great on there, Keaton.

glad to see it went to a good home

haha, I found a thread or two you made about this bike after I bought it. Thanks again for coming down to loose nuts from OTP, it's exactly what I was looking for.

and ha, na, those tires needed to go. They were so hard to get off, they seemed ancient.

Awesome! I like where you're going with it - stealth celeste. Go a step further and add celeste bar tape and cables and it will be the bomb.

I'm with devinfan. My Bianchi is similar vintage but lower end components. Same colour scheme though and it lots quite hot with celeste bartape.

Very nice. I like the black mix with celeste. The tires are a nice touch. I will think about that when mine are ready to replace.

If I only read a description of it, it would sound ugly, but it works!

How does it ride?!

Very well done! That should convert over to 8s Ergos very easily, if you ever wanted to go that route.

Very nice! The celeste accents on a black bike look great. It's the Celeste decal that makes it all work. My Celeste bianchi has a blue decal and blue accents. +1 on adding celeste bar tape.

Great looking Bianchi! I am not sure just how I missed that but it is a good thing I did. I is too bad the decal is gone as that should be a SLX frame just like the fork. That Celeste on black is a great color scheme.

I suspect someone replace the Athena with the 105/600 to improve shifting. we did this on a few bikes to get them out the door.

Wow - That's a heckuva first road bike to snag!
(Most of us had to be content with Varsities, U08's, Raleigh Records, or (as in my case) Free Spirits!

Mainstreet, I don't think the seatpost is but I haven't tried to go higher. I had to raise it slightly and change the seat angle when I got it, I didn't try to make it any higher. I do need to get wider bars at some point, these are pretty narrow. I also am thinking I want the drops to be a bit higher up.

The LBS a mile from me is a Bianchi dealer and they have some old celeste look pedals they will sell to me cheaply, I may just snag those up.

Bianchigirl, do you know what the frame STX decal should look like exactly and where it would go? I found some for around 10 bucks on ebay. The decals in this listing match the decals on the fork exactly.

Also, do you know much about how this celeste color is different than what they usually use? The frame color doesn't match the saddle. That saddle matches the current celeste color pretty well. The celeste bar tape that LBS has matches the saddle but not the tires I got or the frame logo color.

SLX decal? I have bought a few sets of decals from that seller and he seems like a great buy. the placement on the frame wouls be on the seat tube about 2-3" below the seattube / headtube lug. I have a few columbus decals I need to put on frame here and I am contemplating putting some wide Scothc brand invisable tape over them to protect them anyone have a better idea?

The difference in color beteen the saddle and the deacals is simple from the process and material. I have an '83, '88, 89, and '90 Bianchi all hanging here and they all look slightly different owing to difference in the paint batch and age of the frame.

You did pick up from that other thread that the black on this bike has a Matte finish yes?
