looking for folder w/ IHG and disc brakes
hi, I am trying to do a year-round 15m commute into Boston. so,hilly terrain icky weather - hence interest in disc brakes. sometimes so icky that I need to do one leg on public transit - hence interest in a folder.
there are a couple dozen intersections on the bike paths I take, and inevitably a few times a day I forget to downshift - hence interest in internal hub gearing.
I've seen one bike that does what I want: Dahon Cadenza 8. also doesn't "look like a folder" which is nice as I'm not trying to draw attention to myself. I don't mind that it doesn't fold up super-small as the MBTA is open to any folder. biggest worry is the weight limitations, as I am not under 230 and carry lots of stuff to boot.
am looking at whether I can get a Xootr Swift outfitted with IHG and disc brakes; this could be ideal.
any others I should be thinking about? or is this a fool's errand?
many thanks!

You can contact Peter directly at swiftfolders@earthlink.net
He can build you a custom Swift. However, be warned that sometimes he takes a while to reply by email, and he might not be able to do disc brake, but hub brakes as he is only using the aluminum frames.
You can also check this page for a custom still Swift:

Here's a possibility: https://www.downtube.com/Full_Suspens...ding_Bike.html
Downtube Full Suspension, IGH with disk tabs in the front. You'd have to install the brakes yourself. Great value. On the big and heavy side, though.

Dahon has a new bike coming in the spring called the Ios which has 24" wheels, disk brakes, IGH, a dynamo hub with lighting, and most interestingly a small charger for your portable devices that stores energy as you ride and then lets you charge the devices on demand. I don't know what the weight limit on the Ios would be, but it is likely similar to the other Dahons, putting you on the edge.
Given your mention of weight requirements,
Bike Friday will put disk tabs on most of their bikes, as well as gear hubs. They also offer heavy rider upgrades on their bikes, with many models being able to handle a 260lb rider and additional gear with this upgrade.
