Specialized Roubaix closeout deal
Hello, i am offered a closeout price of 2012 specialized roubaix with SRAM Apex for $1550 Plus Tax ; it fits and overall i am happy with the bike. now the questions
1. Is 2013 model any significantly better than 2012 ?
2. LBS service is not friendly and it is far from my home from and for me it is not the best LBS choice; however nearest LBS with friendly service has all 2013 models at higher price, outside my budget.
What should I do ?

I would jump on the '12 Apex model at that price, and use the selling bike shop for your fitting and set up. You can figure out your long-term bike shop preference later.

That does seem like a great price. I was in my lbs last week and they had a 12 tiagra version for 1500.

If the the closer shop includes lifetime tuneups for free if you purchase from them I'd at least check to see what their best price is. If you have any issues you'll wish you bought it from the closer shop but I wouldn't spend more than $250-300 for those perks.

+1. SRAM has issues with their low-end component line. The Tiagra line is a workhorse from Shimano, with the main downside being weight. You'll want to upgrade even before the stuff wears out.

I have already streatched my budget way too far as i was originally going to get specialized secteur. I'm willing to try apex considering any other better grouppo would likely cost more. in addition during my test ride apex performed well. Going to the shop and returing home with the bike

I have seen a couple instances of apex shifters breaking... but my ultegra shifters broke too, does that mean Shimano has trouble with their high end equipment? They're mechanical parts that wear... some will break.

Now go on Youtube and learn how to do your own adjustments! Once you know how, it's easy as pie and you'll be able to do it like a pro.....adjusting derailleurs only involves turning one of two possible screws, and sometimes a knurled barrel adjuster! Unless, of course, you like running to the LBS every hundred miles or so....'cause that's how often she may need a slight adjustment for the first 1000 miles or so, until she's broken-in!
