Where does the “Made in Italy” sticker go on a Colnago?
I’m preparing a bike for Japan. Striped it. Epoxy primered it. Sanded then regular primered it, followed by high quality paint.
Greg Softely sent me the decals and tomorrow I’ll clear coat it.
in the decal kit was this Made In Italy decal
no idea where it should go.

Just because you have it doesn’t mean you have to apply it. My Colnago does not have one.
That being said, prolly low on the seat tube is a commonly used location.

My 1975 does not have one. Yours is newer and I certainly am no expert. I told Jack at Franklin to put original graphics on mine when he painted it for me . I think he would've put one on there if it belonged.

Great idea! Doing decals on a Legnano this morning, a similar Made In Italy decal and I looked on a lot of old Legnano photos, did not see it. Maybe due to that exact placement. And I had tossed the decal, unused, in the trash. So, just now, dug it out and applied it. looks fine, and unobtrusive. Thanks!

I’ll admit
when I saw that Black Magic Bike Painting charges $1500 min for a paint job, I thought they were nuts, and they should be pumping out several frames a day
Then I did it myself. That was a lot of work. I’m sure less when you know what you are doing (I didn’t).
But, almost done. Looks good. I might not shell out for Black Magic, but I understand where the $$ and time goes.

“Made in Italy” is redundant on a Colnago. Especially a lugged steel Colnago. If you don’t know it’s made in Italy, you don’t belong owning and riding it.

It is in essence advertising.
This is a liberating concept when it comes to refinishing's cosmetic decisions.
A current favourite frame has only this:

Rob , I got a very nice paint job from Franklin Frames for a whole lot less than $1500 and it included a matching frame pump that Jack had (NOS) . I don't mean to take away from the work you did , it is beautiful and I could not even come close to that on my own. I just think that $1500 is a lot to spend on a paint job , unless there was some major frame repair or something. This was less than half that , Joe

I’d leave the Italy sticker off or put it at the very bottom of the down or seat tubes. I would NOT leave it on a 3Rensho lest you upset the spirit world.

Same with a Cinelli. But I enjoy looking down at the decal that the frame never originally had, placed there by me, prominently near the downtube shifters, looking at the Italian colors that remind me of my own heritage. For the same reasons I also like my bar end plugs, with their Continental-sounding "Cinelli - Milano."

”did a dye pack go off?” As he pointed to all the purple on my left hand.
Yes, I found a run. It will polish out.
while I wish it had a long time to cure, gotta plane to catch.
