Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What's wrong with a British commentator getting excited about a fellow Brit winning the green jersey?

That kind of follow-through on promise/potential is what makes his teammates willing to give it all for him. They know, more often than not, Cavendish will deliver and reward their efforts.
This. Plus that his teammates speak very highly of him as being a nice lad to be around.

All-in-all, a damn good tour!
And this.

Anyway, great tour. This is the first time I've followed one so closely (watched at least a couple hours of each day's coverage on the DVR before bed). Really really happy for Cadel.

Heard on ESPN radio this morning (scores, update segment):

"...and Evans Cadel wins the tour De France."

and an hour later, this, twice in 30 minutes:

"CAddle Evens wins the Tour De France over Mark Cavendish." :slaps forehead:

A local favorite watering hole here in Topanga Canyon was owned and operated by a native Ausi woman. She served Fosters with pride, while letting us know there were more favorite options in the actual land down under.

I cracked a carbon fiber bottle cage trying to cram a Fosters oil can into it. Don't ask...

The bottle cages on my tourer are a perfect fit for a bottle of wine. There are some good reasons for taking one's time...

Wind noise.

If you put the straps over your glasses they make more noise in the wind and it is harder to hear your team radio.

I personally prefer helmet first then glasses as I have always found it faster and easier taking off glasses quickly with them on the outside of the straps.

Straps on the outside of my glasses forces them up so they don't sit on my nose.

ditto and I dont like how they move my glasses around in general.

back to topic, this was the first time I watched the last day of the Tour, quite a spectacle all in all, very much enjoyed the whole thing.

I just deleted the tour app from my iPhone.

It didn't work all that well but I will still miss it...

He was spelling it phonetically the way the announcer pronounced it.

I had the "official app" from NBC but it sometimes would not update properly. Better than nothing, though.

I wonder if they will have one for the Vuelta...
