Anyone heard of a Bielstein bike w/ Zero Uno frame?
My brother found this frame and wanted to know if I wanted it. There appears to be very little to no information on this bike. Any thoughts...low, middle upper end type of bike? Worth restoring?

Mid to later 80’s frame possibly. Can you find out the tubing, seatpost diamension and BB she’ll length?

Harold Bielstein is a custom builder out of Rapid City, South Dakota. He hangs out on the frame builder's list on Google Groups. The lugs are from Pacenti back in the era when Kirk used to provide investment cast lugs to custom builders. Just to be clear that is the very upper end of quality. I ran across one in a thrift store in San Diego many years ago. I loved the lugs. I sold it to a friend for cheap after a hasty rebuild. It had the appearance of a very high end bike. It was very light and I think had a Columbus tubing sticker. It also came with tubular wheels and tires.

So I was able to contact the original frame builder. He’s still in Rapid City. I plan to visit family there later this summer and Hal said he is willing to take a look at the frame to make sure everything is still in order. I plan to repaint the bike as Hal said he thought he still had some decals for that bike.
Should be a fun project.

I also have a Bielstein frame he made for me in 1993. I am trying to reconnect with him about the bike. Would appreciate contact information if you are willing to share.

Amazing frame, great story, and one to hang, build, ride.
I'm not sure I'd do anything to the frame.
1. A good scrubbing with soapy arm water.
2. A good rubbing down with a rag and WD-40, probably 2-3 times.
3. waxing with some of the spray/wipe products not available.. or
4. Maybe even a hand-rubbed DuraGloss treatment (very tedious, but makes a huge difference).
You may just find out that you can spend a lot of money and time and not really improve it that much.

That is indeed a very nice frame, and like others I don't see the need for a repaint--looks to be in great condition to me. Hope to see more in the future!

I do remember that VW jack, could be very precarious if you really lifted it to fullest height.
The Dedacciai Zero Uno tube set with this decal was their second from top of line and might have a wall thickness (depending on which tube) of 0.8/0.5 or 0.8/0.6

Extremely late update but thought I would post that I’m finally ready to begin the Bielstein rebuild. Due to COVID it took longer than expected to pickup the frame.
I was able to find some nice Shimano 600 Tri-Color components. I’m thinking these should pair nicely with the bike (wanted to find Campy Nuevo Record but wasn’t able to find a good set). I figure I can always upgrade later if i end up finding the Campy components.
Once the bike is finished I’ll post some pictures.

Great looking bike!! I was born in SoDak and I never thought I would hear “custom frame builder” and “South Dakota” in the same sentence.

Thanks, I’m really enjoying this bike and super cool that I grew up in Rapid City and now have a custom bike from there.
I will say this bike is soooo smooth, quiet and an absolute blast to ride. Took it out today for 30 miles and from a rideability standpoint it closely compares to the vintage Raleigh Professional bike I used to own. The only difference is I will never get rid of this bike!
