Would a dirt drop stem get your bats in the same position.
i had an adapter on my touring bike- an 80s 26in trail bike- I kind of grew to hate the look.

I’m a fan of Japanese lugged steel. My Miyata OneThousand is set up with a 2Speed kickback.

I think a Dirt Drop would increase reach too much for me. Plus bars are 31.8 clamp diameter. I use Nitto Technomic on other bikes.
They are very good stems, but the open face ones are real handy when making changes. I agree this setup is not as clean as I like, but it is ok.
