Pico Boulevard
Not sure if this has been discussed here but here goes.
In Redwood City, on the "typical" N-S commute route there is a gnarly intersection at Redwood Shores and Shoreway Blvd. There was a bypass to this intersection by going onto a piece of road called "Pico Boulevard", the bypass basically included a piece of a hotel parking lot and a SamTrans bus lot.
Middle of the year, SamTrans decided to block the Pico route with a gate. Now everyone has to deal with crossing three lanes of high speed traffic on Redwood Shores to be able to make their left turn off of Redwood Shores (happens in either direction) and needs to then hope they get a left turn arrow.
We are pushing SamTrans to reopen the gate. Annoyingly a big part of their response has been "Redwood Shores appears safe". This is based on there being a "well marked bike lane" there, that of course you won't be using if you are crossing 3 lanes of traffic to make a left.
We have an online petition, for people in the area to sign.

Next Tuesday we will be running an "energizer station" like Bike to Work day to get hand signatures and do a cyclist count. Feel free to stop by - or help - or donate to the banana fund
