Tricycling underwear for men
When riding my recumbent trike, my unpadded cycling shorts don't keep my "guy package" up and away from my upper inner thighs while pedaling. Consequently my package constantly gets smushed from side-to-side and not in a feels-good way. Looking for suggestions/recommendations as to underwear (types, brands, etc.) that will solve the problem, short of buying a high-lift jock strap that'll turn me into a soprano.

If you are riding a Greenspeed Anura delta trike you have got to be unique with your problem. I've never seen a previous post with a similar complaint here or on Bentrideronline. There is no specialty underwear specifically for trike riders. Try changing the angle on your seat. It can be set at any angle from 39 to 63 degrees.

Try a pair of Champion tech fabric boxer/briefs. Works for me. I tried one pair last summer after my first ever experience with cycling rash, based on another bike forum member's recommendation. Now I have several pair and I wear 'em every ride, mostly with baggy shorts, sometimes under padded tight shorts.

Um... is this serious?
Go buy any sort of tightish underwear and you'll be fine. I prefer Jockey or under armor. Seriously... "Boxer Briefs"

I vote the jock strap and a try-out at the Metropolitan Opera.

Isn't that what a "jock strap" is for?

Men who ride recumbent trikes do not, by definition, have "guy packages" of any measurable size.

Hanes. The waistbands are better. Was a Fruit Of The Loom man for years, no longer.

PS You have more problems than tightie whities and the postioning of the family jewels. Please help a doctor pay for their insurance and ask them what they were trained to know as a career. Getting a bunch of guy jokes probably doesn't help as much.

Wicking poly boxer briefs might help. Hanes sells a wide variety.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Some I have tried or will try, others likely not (surgery, kilts, Depends). Adjusting the seat didn't help much, but I'm not giving up on that yet. While surfing the 'net, I found a company that only makes mens underwear, Sheath Underwear. They suggested a couple of their products that look like they'll work, so that's a next step.
I since discovered on brol a "technical" term for the issue I'm trying to solve: senior sag. Ah, well ....
Thanks, again, for the help.

I am not a recumbent rider, but this issue has become ongoing for me as I age and support is lost. In the recumbent forum, I probably wouldn't have opened this. (Yes things going down my pant leg is different, but the best solution might well be the same.) Thank you OP.

Sheath Underwear notes
Report back when you've tried them. And quote me so I get the E-mail. Tell us which model you tried. I've been using UnderArmour boxer-briefs (on a diamond bike) for years but I do get saddle sores if I ride long enough or it gets too hot. Package-wise they are good but not great. Plus? They hold up. I have retired one pair in 9 years.

Sheath Underwear Notes, September 12, 2017
My Sheath Underwear, model 3.2.1, arrived a couple of days ago and I’ve worn them for cycling (10 miles), walking the dog, and just in normal house/errand activities. The following are my first impressions based on about 20 hours of wearing them. Please forgive me if some comments seem like TMI.
When I first learned about the Sheaths, I emailed the company explaining what I was looking for. They responded quickly, recommending either the 3.2.1 or the CAMO. The CAMO, at least as shown on their website, is a dark blue/light blue/black pattern. The 3.2.1 was a couple bucks more ($29.00 + shipping) and arrived within a couple of days.
These comments are not intended to be one of those raving “jeez-this-is-the-greatest-thing-since-sliced-bread endorsements”. They’re simply what I’ve learned and experienced with the hope that they are useful to fellow cyclists.
Wearing the Sheaths for the first time felt good. It took a short time to get used to the package-holding pouch, and it wasn’t unpleasant or uncomfortable, just a different feeling. To me, the pouch itself seems less like a jock strap and more like I imagine a woman’s bra cup would feel (although the Sheath pouch has no underwire and that’s a good thing).
The pouch holds everything up and in one place when cycling (we only have recumbent trikes), and the side-to-side pushing and smushing is essentially gone.
There are no seams in the groin junction between the leg and pubic bone area, a good thing. The waistband is wide, substantial and comfortable and constructed so it has no tendency to roll.
The urination opening is convenient, works well, and is better than anything I’ve had, to date. For me, and this may be one of those TMI things, learning to use the new portal is taking a little “procedural” change. I normally don’t use a front opening, but rather pull the waistband down low enough to go (which, with the resulting tension on the elastic has in the past occasionally, when it snaps loose, created unexpected episodes of suddenly peeing up the wall.).
Another reason to adapt to the portal is that when the waistband is pulled down to go, everything comes out of the pouch and has to subsequently be tucked back in when you’re done. A seemingly minor inconvenience but one that could grow old pretty quickly, especially if you’re an old guy (like me) who has to pee frequently. And for you snickering younger guys out there, your turn is coming.
I’ve also slept wearing the Sheath’s, and the need for shifting and adjusting where things are when sleeping on my stomach is also gone.
Here-to-fore I’ve always been a 3-pair for $12 underwear kind of guy and, most of the time I’ll probably stay that way. However for my cycling needs the Sheath 3.2.1 is well worth the investment, and I’ll be ordering a few more. I will also likely try another brand or two if they hold the promise of solving “senior sag” issues.
I’m also planning to copy Sheath Underwear with these notes in case they may help with future designs. Happy Cycling

I got the quote alert from @AnuraTriker. He has the Sheath Underwear 3.2.1.and like it a lot. His description was quite informative but apparently too much for the Forum moderators. To sum up very gently - very good "package placement". To quote, "...no seams in the groin junction between the leg and pubic bone area." After 20 hours he was very pleased and will be buying more. I am going to give them a try.
