Did not know JIS was different from Phillips. That is why Shimano limit screws are so hard to turn. Anyway, the first thing I do on any Shimano derailleur is to replace the limit screws with 4mm allen head ones.

After wrenching without the JIS screwdrivers for 40yrs I finally found out about these and bought some a few years ago. So much nicer to work with, they feel like they lock into Japanese and most any Asian screws and no more stripped or chewed up heads . So whatever they're calling this standard now I recommend them.

I've always used a small flat-blade screwdriver for limit screws. Hate trying to use limit screws that have been garfed up by someone's use of a Philips.

Aren't most modern phillips screwdrivers actually JIS anyway? (Flat tipped)
I made a thread about this subject... years ago and I think that was mainly the consensus.
With that said, I often use flat screwdrivers on limit screws.

Phillips is not JIS.
A Phillips screwdriver will cam out (strip) the head of a JIS screw.

i have a custom ground small flat blade for adjusting limit/B screws.... and most limit screws incorporate a flat blade slot anyway.
