1983 Palo Alto Bicycle - $1250 OBO
1983 Palo Alto Bicycle – Criterium Model Seat tube 60cm, Top tube 57cm - $1250
Was originally purchased as a frameset with a very beat up paint job. I had water bottle bosses installed on the seat tube by a very capable frame builder as well as having the frame aligned and having the chain stays cold stretched for a modern hub configuration. In 2020 the frameset was stripped and resprayed with a metalic blue. It looks excellent and new with what I was told by Palo Alto Bicycle is the last set of decals available from them. An excellent low mileage Campagnolo 9 speed Chorus groupset installed. Details below.
Component group - Campagnolo Chorus 9 speed
Crankset – Campagnolo Chorus 53/39 175mm
Pedals – Not included as well as the Garmin mount on the handlebars
Cassette – Chorus 9 speed, 11-28
Saddle – Selle Italia Flite model
Seatpost – Campagnolo Athena aero
Handlebar – Nitto Noodle, 44cm
Stem – Nitto Stem, 100mm
Wheelset – Velocity Aerohead
Tires 700x32 or I can switch out for smaller 28mm as you wish

Pedal to the medal
wow a Criterium frame that can fit 32's? Impressive, to say nothing about the paint, parts, and build!
Too big for me, thankfully.

Wow! A tiny bit large, top tube a little short, stem too short but with Nitto bars, a long Pearl would do (and look) very nice(ly). 9-speed Chorus. I set my custom ti up 9-speed Campy cassette because even though I knew I wasn't going brifters anytime soon, when I did, 1) there would be no goofy outside cables and 2) - far more important - pushing the brake lever sideways doesn't change gears! I've been doing that forever to steady the bars when I reach for my WBs.
So, you are presenting a briftered bike set up as I think should be. (9-speed is plenty, Campy 9-speed is sweet, I have 2 road wheels and the makings of three cassettes. All the cogs but 11 speed (including 12, 13 and 14 top ends). Sweet paint job. I do need lower gears. Are there triplizers for that crankset? The little details are right. Continuous top of TT brake housing. You added the missing ST WB bosses. (I don't see a HT pump peg. That might keep a grand+ in my wallet!)
This bike is not in my plans but it might get stuck in my head. If I ran across a simply gorgeous pump peg I might be sunk.

What a great bike! Would you happen to know what the frame angles are? If memory serves me Palo Alto was 73/73 seat tube and head tube?

Quote from the 1980-81 Catalog
"Geometry varies with frame size with the 57cm frame being 74 degrees parallel. Smaller frames have a slightly shallower head angle and steeper seat tube angle, while opposite is true of larger frame. This allows the top tube to be slightly shorter than the seat tube which give the best fit for most riders."
