Hope Rx4+ calipers…

Hope Rx4+ calipers…

Hi all,
I am currently running sram rival caliper with the 160 bracket setup. I have had 180 front disc with peak torque adaptor for the last 2 yrs but I want more power and less mounting brackets as stacked tolerance makes the caliper not true to disc (bigger pad clearance needed) so here is what I d like to do.

As the rival calipers are the same front and rear, I am thinking about a rx4+ flatmount +20 (setup for direct 160) which would go on the sram 140/160 mount bracket to buid up to 180. The sram bracket has the advantage of “side float adjustment” thanks to the elongated holes
Has this been tried?

Other option would be to get a rx4+ front direct mount +20 (design to work with 160 while being mounted straight to the fork) and fit it to the peak torque adaptor. This does not allows for as much lateral float as the 1st option.

What s your thoughts?

and yes, I have but pads (sintered ones)

I can’t speak to all the jimmyed-up adapter stuff, but I do run RX4+ on Force levers and besides the action being good, reliability has been excellent over the past 3 or 4 years, so I can recco the Hopes from that standpoint.

Going to point out that Columbus claims a max of 160mm for their forks, I think I'd sooner look into better pads and rotors to aid stopping before resorting to stacking pieces to exceed the standards of a fork.

And I'm trying to imagine why anyone would need rotors larger than 160mm on a gravel bike. If the brakes are set up properly, OP should not need larger rotors.

brakes are set adequately with sintered pads and shimano icetech rotor.
But, i use my bike as a hard tail XC bike and when I go down 20% @ 40kph, I like to get strong bit and release (i brake on mtb as I do in race car).
the reason to go for 4 pots is mostly pad stability (like on my race car).

and if someone look at hope recommendation, it says 160/180 for involved gravel and XC. Since I race local XC races with my gravel, the bike is set up with XC transmission, 27.5x2.1 tyres and XC rotors… just a lighter drop bar XC…
similar set up as
